The Financial Reporting Manager leads accounting and financial reporting, optimizing the close process and enhancing reporting tools to deliver insights and support decision-making.
We are seeking a Senior Accounting Manager who excels at the intersection of accounting, analysis, and insights. This individual will deliver clear and timely financial insights, lead and optimize our close process, and enhance reporting through smarter tools and automation. If you enjoy solving real business problems with data — and care about getting the numbers right — we’d love to talk!
We work in a distributed environment. Our headquarters is in Chicago and we have offices located in Michigan and Arkansas, but you can be located within the continental United States. There may be travel required to our office(s) from time to time.
Accounting & Financial Reporting Responsibilities
- Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in alignment with internal deadlines and external requirements.
- Lead and own the full month-end close process, including journal entries, accruals, balance sheet reconciliations, and general ledger accuracy.
- Standardize and deliver accurate, consistent, and timely internal financial reports.
- Act as the primary liaison for all audit and tax engagements.
- Own and continuously improve financial operations by identifying opportunities to automate, simplify, or eliminate manual work — with a focus on shortening the monthly close timeline.
Financial & Business Analysis Responsibilities
- Prepare and analyze financial reports, forecasts, and variance analyses to support decision-making.
- Partner with cross-functional teams (e.g., Sales, Revenue Operations, Operations) to support reporting needs and improve decision-making.
- Identify financial trends, risks, and opportunities and communicate findings.
- Develop dashboards and visualizations to track and communicate financial and operational KPIs.
- Assist in designing and implementing data and process improvements that enhance accuracy, scalability, and efficiency.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred but not required.
- 5-8 + years of progressive experience in accounting and financial reporting, ideally with exposure to financial analysis or FP&A.
- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and month-end close processes.
- Proficiency in Excel and Google Sheets; experience with Netsuite (or other like ERPs) preferred. Proven ability to pull, clean, and synthesize data from multiple sources to tell a story.
- Experience with CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce) and BI tools (e.g., Power BI, QuickSight, Tableau) is a plus.
- AI-curious mindset with an interest in using tools like ChatGPT or automation platforms to streamline reporting, reconciliation, month-end, and data analysis workflows.
- Proactive and reliable communicator with the ability to translate complex data into clear insights for non-technical stakeholders.
- You understand how financial results connect to day-to-day operations and can turn data into actionable insights.
- Experience in the advertising or marketing services industry is a plus.
- Growth mindset and flexibility—you’re energized by change and willing to roll up your sleeves as needed.
