Responsibilities
- Performs schedule computations of accruals, property and equipment, and calculates depreciation expense.
- Works effectively within given budgetary parameters.
- Prepares income tax returns for corporations, partnerships, and individuals, including federal and state tax returns for multi-state companies and consolidated returns for affiliated groups.
- Conducts tax research to ensure compliance with tax law.
- Assist supervisors and partners with various tax analysis and issues
- Creating spreadsheets to analyze tax issues
- Prepare and calculate tax depreciation expenses
- Record transactions in tax basis trial balances as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Accounting, Business, Business Management, Economics, Finance or in a closely related field.
- Either hold a current and valid CPA’s license or be working toward obtaining the license by taking and passing the applicable state CPA exam.
- Ability to organize work and projects, prioritize and meet deadlines. Ability to complete work in an efficient and accurate manner.
- Well-rounded knowledge of accounting principles and personal and entity level income tax.
- Occasional overtime work required throughout the year. Heavy overtime work required from January 1 to April 15 and August 1 to October 15, likely in excess of 55 hours per week.
- At least two year of work experience in public accounting or in a closely related occupation.
- Experience in preparing individual tax returns for clients.
- Experience filing corporate tax returns for LLC, S-Corporation, C-Corporation, and Non-profits.
- Knowledge of CCH Axcess, iChannel and SurePrep are preferred.
