KMGH-TV, the E.W. Scripps ABC affiliate in Denver, Colorado, is looking for an experienced newsroom professional to lead our dynamic morning show team in creating and delivering impactful content dedicated to serving our viewers. The leader of this team should be both decisive and collaborative, making space for all voices before determining the direction, communicating a plan and setting clear expectations. You’re the right person for this job if you want to spend less time in the weeds and more time developing and executing a vision. We’re not interested in building shows that are married to a format. Our AM newscasts should create a connection with our community by truly listening to them and following through on the stories that they tell us are most important. 

WHAT YOU'LL DO:
  • Manage newscast and local program content across multiple platforms
  • Collaborate with editors, producers and the assignment desk on story selection
  • Oversee and edit written content, including teases and web headlines
  • Develop and manage effective workflow strategies for multiple programs
  • Ensure pre-production meets quality and ethical standards
  • Work flexible hours as needed, including holidays, weekends and evenings
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
  • BS/BA in related discipline preferred or equivalent years of experience
  • Generally, 8+ years of experience in related field preferred
  • Generally, 5+ years previous news producing experience preferred
  • Prior managerial experience preferred
WHAT YOU'LL BRING:
  • Strong editorial judgment and knowledge of journalistic ethics and libel laws
  • Ability to create tactics and strategies to increase demographic performance across platforms
  • Working knowledge of federal, state and local laws impacting news operations
  • Leadership skills to guide a team of journalists and production staff
  • Passion for local news and community impact

COMPENSATION RANGE:

Annual Salary: $85,000.00 - 95000


 

Pursuant to state and local salary transparency laws, the salary range posted is specific to candidates who will perform this work in Colorado.
