Job Position Description:

KRDO13 is seeking a primary, Evening Anchor to co-anchor our #1 rated newscasts M-F.  We are the dominant leader in all newscasts across the board.  The Evening Anchor will join an experienced anchor team that stands out amongst our competitors and we’re looking for someone who fits that same brand.  The successful candidate must be a go-getter who thrives in breaking news and is open to new ideas and approaches.  The Evening Anchor must also be a newsroom leader who leads by example on-the-air and behind the scenes. Our anchors are mentors to emerging journalists and the successful candidate will embrace a supportive newsroom culture, while also helping to grow our staff.  This is not a starter position and requires at least 6+ years of on-air news experience at a commercial television station.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Anchor live newscasts M-F.
• Must be willing to field anchor from community events and higher-profile breaking news, as assigned by station management.
• Attend daily editorial meetings and pitch stories.
• Work closely with newscast producers, managers and production staff on newscasts. Must be comfortable working with staff of all levels.
• Turn franchise stories and special reports.
• Must be willing to edit and shoot stories.
• Create content for digital platforms.
• Consistently post to social media to build personal and station brand.
• Regularly participate in station events and represent KRDO13 at community events.
• Must be willing to occasionally shift schedule and respond to the station on short notice for breaking news.

Requirements:

• At least 6+ years of broadcast news experience at a commercial television station with anchoring experience
• B.A. or B.S. Degree preferably in journalism or English or equivalent experience
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to work in the field and report live
• Good driving record

Annual Salary Range:

Starting at $110,000.00; based on experience. Exempt.

KRDO13 is in downtown Colorado Springs, Colorado, near the base of Pikes Peak, along the front range of the Rocky Mountains, and close to Garden of the Gods. Colorado Springs is often rated as one of the country’s best cities to live in. It is a big city with a small-town feel, with Castle Rock and Denver within an hour’s drive.
