Senior Engineering Project Manager - Substation Engineering

Role Summary 

Revamp is seeking a Senior Project Manager for High Voltage Engineering to lead the delivery of substation and interconnection engineering for utility-scale renewable energy projects. You will help move clean energy from development to construction by turning complex high voltage scopes into reliable execution plans and accountable delivery. 

You will oversee a portfolio or suite of projects with substantial independence, approving scopes, budgets, schedules, and work plans while seeking guidance only when necessary. You will serve as a trusted partner to clients, utilities, subcontractors, and internal discipline leads, and you will mentor project staff so teams can deliver high-quality work with transparency and sound judgment. You will coordinate closely with electrical, structural, civil, and power systems teams and help build an inclusive project culture where everyone's contribution is recognized. 

Duties & Responsibilities 

Core Technical & Functional Responsibilities 

• Independently apply extensive and diversified knowledge of engineering consulting and project management practices to high voltage substation and interconnection projects. 
• Oversee multiple complex projects or a portfolio of related projects from proposal development through closeout. 
• Interpret contract, proposal, and scope language and translate delivery requirements into clear direction for project teams and clients. 
• Develop and finalize proposals, scopes, budgets, schedules, work plans, and resource plans for high voltage assignments. 
• Manage internal discipline and subconsultant deliverables, including construction drawings, equipment specifications, RFIs, submittals, change requests, and project correspondence. 
• Prepare, track, and submit monthly project invoicing and maintain accurate project records. 
• Identify complex project risks, scope changes, and schedule impacts, then drive timely decisions and documented resolutions. 
• Approve project execution plans and monitor portfolio performance against scope, schedule, budget, quality, and contractual commitments. 
• Coordinate staffing and workload across multiple project teams to maintain delivery capacity and meet client commitments. 

Quality, Standards & Compliance 

• Review project deliverables for conformity with client expectations, contractual obligations, utility standards, and applicable jurisdictional requirements. 
• Set clear expectations for project documentation, quality assurance, and records management across internal teams and subconsultants. 
• Resolve quality, compliance, and delivery issues with transparent communication and sound professional judgment. 

Client Interface & Business Development 

• Serve as a senior point of contact for clients, utilities, subcontractors, and other external stakeholders on assigned projects and portfolios. 
• Represent Revamp in client, utility, and subcontractor meetings and communicate project status, risks, decisions, and technical high voltage issues clearly. 
• Build trusted client relationships and contribute high voltage scope, budget, schedule, and execution expertise to proposals and business development activities. 

Mentorship & People Leadership 

• Mentor project managers and less experienced staff on high voltage delivery, including scope development, change management, and client communication. 
• Review work plans, budgets, and status reporting prepared by project staff and give timely feedback that builds independent judgment. 
• Distribute project assignments and development opportunities fairly across the team. 
• Share high voltage delivery knowledge with project managers and less experienced staff to build capability across the team. 

Collaboration & Communication 

• Coordinate civil, electrical, structural, and power systems discipline leads to sequence work and meet deliverable dates. 
• Present project recommendations and trade-offs to clients, internal leaders, and project teams in a clear and actionable manner. 
• Establish shared ownership of deliverables and promote inclusive, respectful collaboration across disciplines and project locations.

• Perform essential duties including meeting deliverables and deadlines. 
• Perform additional related duties as assigned or directed. 

Experience, Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities 

Required Qualifications 

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or a similar field, or similar applicable work experience. 
• Eight or more years of project management experience in engineering consulting, renewable energy, or a comparable industry. 
• Direct experience delivering high voltage projects, such as substations, interconnections, transmission systems, or related utility infrastructure. 
• Demonstrated ownership of project scope, schedule, budget, invoicing, and client deliverables across multiple concurrent projects. 
• Ability to read contract and proposal terms and explain their delivery implications to internal teams, clients, utilities, and subcontractors. 
• Ability to independently identify, evaluate, and resolve complex project and delivery issues, seeking guidance only when necessary. 
• Advanced verbal, written, and presentation skills for technical and non-technical stakeholders. 
• Ability to travel up to 15% of the time, including overnight trips, to support project sites, client meetings, and team events. 

Preferred Qualifications 

• Prior high voltage engineering experience before moving into project management, including electrical, structural, protection and controls, physical substation, or transmission work. 
• Experience at a high voltage design-build or high voltage engineering  firm. 
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary engineering teams and subconsultants across a portfolio of projects. 
• PMP certification or similar project management credential. 
• Familiarity with the utility-scale renewable energy project development and interconnection lifecycle.
