If you'd like to join our rapidly growing operations team in a mission to help the warfighter, this could be an ideal role for you. The Manufacturing Value Stream Manager role will lead a large team in an operational, functional, and continuous improvement capacity. This opportunity requires a highly motivated, result driven professional, with vision and experience leading Lean thinking to solve system challenges in direct support of the Tactical Solutions (TS) Strategic Business Unit (SBU). The position will require an experienced operational leader with the ability to think strategically while leading tactical execution.
This role is accountable for leading a team of engineers, technicians, and planners for a production portfolio that focuses on high quantity production for a smaller portfolio of antenna and RF aperture products. They will influence a future factory design with an emphasis on advanced manufacturing techniques and process optimization. They are responsible for a production system that manages both daily execution and long-range planning to deliver customer value from new product integration and through full-rate production.
The Operations Strategic Capabilities Unit plays a fundamental role in enabling efficient business and program execution - from strategic capital investments, industrial operations and an efficient supply chain, to state-of-the-art manufacturing and test operations and top-notch facilities management.
What You'll Do:
  • Accountable for leading a direct staff of 3-5 managers responsible for technicians, manufacturing engineers, and production control specialists.
  • Develop people at every level in a lean management system by coaching problem solving, developing standards, empowering team members, and leading the behaviors that are foundational to learning, continuous improvement, and delivering customer value.
  • Champion a safety-first culture.
  • Define customer value, including cost, schedule, and quality alignment, for a portfolio of EO/IR products and ensure all team members understand how their work contributes to that value.
  • Translate Strategy, Hoshin objectives, and SBU priorities into clear and executable expectations at the individual contributor level and align functional teams.
  • Partner with SBU customers on future technology roadmaps to ensure production capabilities are aligned with new product development.
  • Understand the execution plan and engage manufacturing value stream team members to clearly understand all value creating activities, quickly identify abnormalities in delivery or risk, and proactively communicate with stakeholders.
  • Manage the development and utilization of key performance metrics to drive change.
  • Systematically drive the transformation of our manufacturing operations by utilizing and contributing to our operational vision, collaborating across value streams, and exercising organizational agility, to support a rapidly growing business.
  • Plan, develop, and manage departmental indirect budgets while maintaining stable, competitive, and predictable rates.
  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site five days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.
Working Conditions:
  • Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor, or cleanroom, outdoors or remote research environment.
  • May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required.
  • May access other facilities in various weather conditions.

Short Term Incentive: Subject to business performance and recommendations of management, this role may be eligible to participate in an incentive compensation plan.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
  • BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required plus 12 or more years related experience.
  • Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master's Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
  • A current, active Secret security clearance is required.
  • Demonstrated curiosity and the ability to lead teams through complex technical and organizational challenges and change.
  • Practical experience driving a lean management system, including Hoshin Kanri, Daily Management, and Structured Problem Solving.
  • Exceptional ability to convey vision and purpose, align teams, and empower others to see and solve problems independently.
  • Demonstrated experience successfully leading both tactical daily execution and long-range strategic planning.
