Pay Range

$177,600.00-$244,200.00 Annual

This is the base salary pay range that an applicant can expect to make upon hire.   Pay within this range will vary based upon relevant experience, skills, and education among other factors. In addition, this position is eligible for an incentive bonus. 

The Division Engineering Leader of Insulation Systems position is responsible to provide all facets of engineering leadership and oversight to the IS business unit, manufacturing plants, engineering group, and technical resources. The position will work closely with business leadership, operations, engineering, finance, marketing and product development, sales, and research & development to assure all engineering efforts and projects meet business and financial objectives through effective planning, engineering, coordination, and service. The position will provide division capital program leadership, including multiyear asset planning and annual operating plan planning and execution. The position will also provide leadership and resourcing to all aspects of key divisional projects. The position assists the Director of Operations and divisional plant managers to increase production capacity, improve product quality, reduce costs and/or improve operations and HSE results through the implementation of new technologies, initiatives, projects, process improvements, and implementation of best operating and engineering practices. The position leads, mentors, trains, and hires divisional engineers and provides leadership to division plant engineers. The leader shall work within a cross functional team to achieve corporate, divisional, and departmental objectives in a collaborative environment across a broad range of industrial manufacturing facilities. The leader has cross discipline engineering capabilities and a solid understanding of engineering design principles and manufacturing processes. The leader reports directly to the Director of Operations   IS with a matrix reporting relationship to Vice President, Capital Projects & Engineering. The leader manages a direct team of 11 engineers and a budget of $1.8M.

This position can be based out of Denver, CO or a large JM Insulation Systems facility.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide engineering leadership and oversight to the Insulation System business unit, manufacturing plants, engineering group, and technical resources.
  • Provide division capital program leadership, including multiyear asset planning and annual operating plan planning and execution.
  • Owner of MOC process
  • Member of Division Ops Leadership Team.
  • Represent the division and participate actively in the Global Investment Council.
  • Coordinate closely with associated corporate resources and initiatives.
  • Coordinate closely with VP Capital Projects and Engineering.
  • Provide leadership and resourcing to all aspects of key divisional projects including justification, scoping, budgeting, scheduling, engineering, forecasting, execution, and reporting to meet the project objectives and deliver the expected benefits to the division.
  • Assist the Director of Operations and Divisional Plant Managers to increase production capacity, address product quality issues, reduce costs and improve operations and HSE results through the implementation of new technologies including Automation, initiatives, projects, process improvements, AC and R and implementation of best operating and engineering practices.
  • The position leads, mentors, trains, and hires divisional engineers and provides leadership to plant engineers.
  • Ensure that a strong safety culture is maintained with strong safety procedures implemented, refined, and updated, driving a zero-incident environment.
  • Provide technical resources to troubleshoot/optimize plant operations quality, reliability, metrics, etc.
  • Provide technical resources for resolution of unplanned efficiency or product quality degradations and equipment failures

Requirements (education, skills and abilities)

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (mechanical, electrical, or chemical) with 10 years of experience in various engineering roles such as project, process, or plant engineering in industrial or manufacturing industry with progressing levels of responsibility and 5 years capital project management experience
  • Demonstrated success managing capital projects of $5M+ with varying complexity and size through the entire project lifecycle
  • Proven project management and leadership skills
  • Experience with all facets of day-to-day plant operations 24x365 (shift work, finance, maintenance, HSE, hiring, firing)
  • Demonstrated high level of passion for continuous improvement in all aspects of engineering and project management
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor, coach, train, and develop others and provide program management
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Ability to influence and present data, technical information, and financial information at all levels within the organization
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, negotiating skills, and process troubleshooting skills
  • Demonstrated drive and initiative to complete assigned tasks proactively and with limited oversight with multiple concurrent projects and priorities
  • Strong leadership, passion, and excitement to add value to the organization
  • Demonstrated ability to provide complex and innovative solutions to project and process engineering problems
  • Demonstrated engineering and technical capabilities
  • Solid understanding of corporate reporting
  • Solid understanding of engineering economics and project justification
  • Solid understanding of technology used in manufacturing facilities
  • Solid knowledge of OSHA regulations relating to manufacturing and construction processes
  • Solid knowledge of construction-related environmental regulations as applicable to typical JM construction projects
  • Knowledge of contracts and contract management demonstrated (specifications and guarantees equipment focus)
  • Familiarity with applicable government regulations pertaining to environmental and operating permits and safety standards
  • Knowledge of finance
  • Proficient in Microsoft, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook (Solid)
  • Heavy travel required (100 or more days per year) with limited international travel
  • Ability to interface at all levels of the organization, both internally and externally
  • Manages a staff of salary employees, sets direction, and deploys resources. Responsible for performance evaluations, pay reviews, hiring, and terminating
  • Work environment is typical of an office setting
