Join Verdance and help improve government digital services!
About the role
Verdance is looking for an Engineering Lead to help drive success on ambitious government healthcare technology projects. You’ll join a mission-driven company partnering with government agencies to build secure, scalable, and user-centered digital public services.

You’ll ultimately play a leadership role on a team of 10-20 engineers broken into several scrum teams, but we may ask you to have a stint as an individual contributor during a ramp up period of several months. You’ll have significant influence over engineering standards, architecture decisions, and team culture. We’re especially looking for someone who is excited to help public sector teams adopt AI tooling in development workflows.

What You'll Do:

  • Provide technical leadership across scrum teams

  • Help define engineering standards, workflows, and development best practices

  • Mentor engineers through code reviews, technical guidance, and collaborative problem-solving

  • Guide adoption of modern AI tooling and keep a pulse on evolving AI-augmented engineering workflows

  • Ensure critical healthcare software systems are maintainable, secure, and extremely reliable

  • Contribute to a collaborative, thoughtful, and mission-oriented engineering culture

Our Top Priorities for this Role:

  • 7+ years of engineering experience, likely 10+ unless your background is close to a perfect match on all other attributes, with several years of leadership experience

  • Experience leading engineering teams in healthcare, health data systems, or regulated environments

  • Deep interest in helping teams become more productive and efficient

  • Strong understanding of AWS/cloud infrastructure development

  • Ability to balance strategic leadership with hands-on technical execution

  • Experience driving engineering processes, technical direction, and team alignment

Here’s What We’re Offering in Return:

  • $175k-$250k salary range (depending on seniority)

  • 4 weeks PTO per year + federal holidays

  • Insurance, including dental and vision

  • 401(k) with 4% match

  • 12 weeks paid parental leave

  • Flexible work schedule

  • A interview process that respects your time

Some Administrative Requirements of Our Government Contracts:

  • Work authorization in the US

  • All work must take place in the continental US

  • Team members must have lived in the US for 3 out of the past 5 years

  • Ability to pass a public trust government background investigation
