Who Should Apply?

🔹 Students currently enrolled in an accredited Computer Science, Engineering Bachelor’s program (graduating in 2027 or 2028)
🔹 Passionate about cloud computing, AI/ML, and open-source
🔹 Strong problem-solving mindset with a drive to innovate

What You’ll Do:
  • Designing, developing, and shipping production level code  
  • Drafting engineering design documents
  • Designing backend REST/gRPC services, primarily in Go
  • Collaborating with teams across DigitalOcean engineering to find improvements to our internal systems and clarify dependencies
Example Types of Projects:
  • Database Projects: These projects focus on enhancing database services, including automation of routine tasks, improving user interfaces for configuration, and enabling better monitoring capabilities.
  • Infrastructure Projects: Projects involving building and managing infrastructure components, such as a public Docker registry to improve service reliability and protect from outages.
  • User Experience (UX) and User Interface (UI) Projects: These projects center on improving the user experience of various platforms, including designing future concepts, exploring the use of AI copilots, and modernizing UI component libraries.
  • Deployment and Automation Projects: Projects focused on streamlining deployments across the organization, building deployment dashboards, and automating processes to improve efficiency across cloud infrastructure.
  • Platform Enhancement Projects: Projects aimed at improving platform functionality, such as creating application templates and enhancing real-time processing capabilities.
  • Data Engineering Projects: Projects involving data management and synchronization, such as ensuring data consistency between different systems.
Technologies we use:
  • Programming: JavaScript, Golang, Python, Java, TypeScript, Ruby
  • APIs: GRPC and/or REST
  • Database knowledge: MySQL
  • UI/UX design with  Figma
  • Cloud infrastructure understanding: Kubernetes, Prometheus 
  • Data processing technologies: Kafka, Flink, Apache Beam, etc.
What You’ll Add to DigitalOcean:
  • Passion for learning and shipping well-engineered applications
  • Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills
  • Some familiarity in building REST or gRPC APIs
  • Experience or interest in learning Golang to build APIs (gRPC)
  • Familiarity with building and deploying applications using Docker and Kubernetes
  • Familiarity in working with relational databases (MySQL)
  • Genuine interest in DigitalOcean as a company and excitement to use our products in your projects
Compensation Range:
  • $54.00/hr

You may qualify for a bonus in addition to base salary; bonus amounts are determined based on company and individual performance.
