We're seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Engineering Assistant I to join our team in supporting Spectral Imaging Advancement Efforts. This is an excellent opportunity for college students who are interested in learning about spectral imaging technology, hardware, and data analysis related to space-based and airborne data collections.
Spectral imaging represents a cutting-edge, rapidly evolving discipline that harnesses advanced sensor technologies to collect and analyze data across various electromagnetic spectra, offering unprecedented insights and situational awareness to support a wide range of critical missions. As an Engineering Assistant I, you will be expected to work alongside the development team with oversight to grow valuable skills in a dynamic and innovative environment. The Engineering, Science and Analysis (ESA) Strategic Capabilities Unit comprises the technical talent and organizational leadership that enables the successful delivery of high-impact discriminating technologies for our customers' missions. What You'll Do:
On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site three or more days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.

A security clearance or access with Polygraph is not required to be eligible for this position. However, the applicant must be willing and eligible for submission, depending on program requirements, after an offer is accepted and must be able to maintain the applicable clearance/access.

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
Temporary employees generally are not eligible for BAE Systems benefits, but can elect to participate in the 401(k) savings plan. Temporary employees working 20+ hours per week are eligible for medical benefits, the employee assistance program, and business travel accident insurance.

What You'll Do:
- Support the development and implementation of spectral imaging technologies under guidance from experienced staff.
- Collaborate with engineers and scientists to advance imaging capabilities.
- Perform data analysis and documentation tasks as required.
- Participate in meetings and contribute to project discussions.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships within the department and the company.
- Prepare and give presentations to peers, management, and possibly customers.
- Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
- Perform other duties as necessary.
On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site three or more days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.
Working Conditions:
- Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor, or cleanroom, outdoors or remote research environment.
- May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required.
- May access other facilities in various weather conditions.
This position is Part Time.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
- High School diploma or equivalent or related experience.
- Each higher-level related degree, i.e., Bachelor's or Master's, may substitute for two years of related experience. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
- Experience with any of the specific tasks above is beneficial but not required.
- Effective communication and teamwork.
- An interest in learning.
- Proactiveness when approaching problems or unknown areas.
- A desire to understand how changes in one area impact everything else on the project.
