About the Role:
Join our Cloud Runtime Protection team and help build the technology that stops breaches before they happen. As part of CrowdStrike's Falcon Cloud Security organization, you'll develop and operate high-scale cloud systems that protect workloads and secure Kubernetes environments for thousands of customers worldwide.
We're seeking a highly skilled leading senior engineer to build cutting-edge runtime protection capabilities, processing massive data volumes while delivering both customer-facing solutions and internal tools. You'll work with industry-leading Cloud Workload Protection and Kubernetes & Container Security technologies, directly contributing to our mission of stopping adversaries in their tracks.
As a technical leader, you'll drive end-to-end product delivery, architect scalable solutions, and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to define priorities and scope. Your expertise will directly influence the cybersecurity landscape, protecting organizations from sophisticated threats while advancing the state of the art in exposure management.
What You’ll Do:
Leadership & Impact: As a technical leader, you'll drive end-to-end product delivery, architect scalable solutions, and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to define priorities and scope. Your expertise will directly influence the cybersecurity landscape, protecting organizations from sophisticated threats while advancing the state of the art in exposure management
Backend Architecture and Development: Design and develop scalable backend services powering both internal and customer-facing web applications, with a focus on performance, reliability, and security. Develop and maintain APIs, microservices, and data pipelines to support the growth of the platform. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize project requirements.
Cloud Infrastructure and Operations: Collaborate with the DevOps team to design and implement cloud infrastructure solutions using AWS, Azure, or GCP, ensuring scalability, security, and high availability. Develop and maintain scripts and tools to automate deployment, monitoring, and maintenance tasks. Ensure compliance with security and regulatory requirements.
Database Management and Data Engineering: Design and implement database solutions using RDBMS/SQL, NoSQL databases, and distributed caching solutions like Redis, ensuring data consistency, integrity, and performance. Ensure data security and compliance across different databases and data stores.
System Troubleshooting and Performance Optimization: Troubleshoot complex distributed architectures, identifying and resolving performance and reliability issues. Develop and implement monitoring and logging solutions to improve system visibility and debugging capabilities. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize performance optimization opportunities.
Collaboration and Technical Leadership: Partner with cross-functional teams, including UX/UI, Sensors, and other teams, to deliver integrated solutions with comprehensive documentation. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, ensuring knowledge sharing and skill development within the team. Collaborate with technical leaders to define technical vision and strategy.
Operational Excellence and Service Reliability: Configure advanced monitoring, alerting, and maintain high availability for production services, ensuring robust and healthy service operations. Develop and implement incident response plans and procedures to minimize downtime and ensure high availability. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize operational excellence initiatives.
Ownership: Take ownership of your work and projects, ensuring high-quality and scalable deliverables. You have the opportunity to drive and own the technical decisions and trade-offs made in your projects, identify areas for improvement and propose solutions to address technical debt, ensuring the long-term maintainability and scalability of the platform.Design and develop secure, maintainable cloud-based systems for runtime visibility, detection and response of cloud workloads
What You’ll Need:
13+ years of production experience building, delivering, and maintaining large-scale distributed systems processing high-volume data
Advanced programming expertise in object-oriented languages with strong typing (Golang, Python, or similar)
Proven microservices experience with designing scalable REST APIs and distributed communication patterns
Past experience(s) with building data platforms at scale that includes distributed ETLs or data ingestion pipelines
Strong cloud infrastructure knowledge with major providers (AWS preferred, plus Azure and GCP)
Solid distributed systems understanding, including concurrency, parallel processing, and scalability patterns
Message queue proficiency (Kafka or something similar)
Database versatility across RDBMS/SQL, distributed data stores (like ElasticSearch or Cassandra) and distributed caching solutions like Redis
System troubleshooting expertise for complex distributed architectures
Engineering best practices experience, including testing strategies, code reviews, and resilient architecture design
Collaborative technical skills with ability to mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical decisions
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent professional experience
Solid foundation in algorithms, data structures, and technical problem-solving
Bonus Points:
Machine learning, AI implementation or Agentic AI usage experience
Practical experience with golang, Cassandra, Kafka, Elasticsearch, SQL, Redis
Prior experience in the cybersecurity or intelligence fields.
Graph database knowledge and experience with graph structures (nodes, edges, relationships)
Open source contributions or technical community involvement
Docker and Kubernetes experience
Practical event-driven architecture design experience
Ontology definition and cross-team collaboration experience

Placement within the pay range is dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications, job level, supervisory status, and location.
