We are seeking an action-oriented engineer with intellectual curiosity who is excited to apply their potential to testing space flight hardware. This position is part of a spacecraft/space vehicle test team, where you will serve as a test engineer with a focus on flight hardware verification.
As an Engineer I, you will work closely with and be mentored by experts in the field. You will have the opportunity to support significant test activities on a large space vehicle program, a subsystem on a small-to-mid-size effort, or the testing of flight mechanisms.

What You'll Do:
- Serve as a test engineer within a spacecraft/space vehicle test team, focusing on writing test scripts to support flight hardware testing.
- Work in a fast-paced team environment, assisting in the integration and testing of spacecraft hardware.
- Support mechanisms testing the payload and space vehicle levels of integration.
- Work in cleanroom and lab environments to verify that hardware meets requirements and to characterize and calibrate performance.
- Write, review, update, and execute test procedures and scripts.
- Collaborate with other technical groups (e.g., Power, Propulsion, Guidance and Navigation, Systems, Simulators, and Flight/Non-Flight Software) to architect and design tests that meet program requirements.
- Develop a detailed understanding of spacecraft subsystems and their operations.
- Comply with BAE Systems Space and Mission Systems (SMS) software quality and version control standards.
- Maintain test logs and generate comprehensive test reports.
- Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
- Perform other duties as necessary.

- Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor, or cleanroom, outdoors or remote research environment.
- May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required.
- May access other facilities in various weather conditions.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
- BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required.
- Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master's Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
- A desire to work hands-on with critical space-flight hardware.
- Experience with software configuration management systems, such as Git and GitLab.
- Proficiency in scripting and programming languages.
- Experience testing and troubleshooting mechanisms.
- Proficiency in MS Office tools.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to understand the broader scope of complex, ambitious projects.

- Experience with (or knowledge of) spacecraft command and control systems, simulators, software test benches, and other electrical ground support equipment.
- Proficiency in coding languages such as Ruby, Python, or C++ is desired.
- Experience with hardware-in-the-loop (HWIL) or direct hardware testing.
- Experience with the design, integration, and testing of RF subsystems.
- Prior space or military experience is highly desired, but not required.
