Position Summary
SJI Renewable Energy Ventures is seeking an Energy Offtake Director to lead the commercial strategy and revenue generation execution for its Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) portfolio. The position will be responsible for offtake and tax credit transfer contract origination and management in support of carbon neutral goals.The candidate will have experience securing renewable energy offtake contracts, fostering strategic commercial relationships, and leading deal execution activities through a proven ability to deliver results. Essential Duties & Functions:
Lead the origination, structuring, and commercial negotiation of energy offtake contracts to maximize the monetization of the renewable natural gas, associated environmental attributes, and clean energy tax credits.
Manage portfolio of offtake contracts, including customer relationships, market assessments, and financial analysis, to maximize the value derived.
Build strong relationships with parties sourcing low-emissions, sustainable energy, including energy brokers, utilities, commercial, industrial, transportation, and other potential off takers.
Oversee energy offtake and tax credit transfer deal execution activities, from due diligence through business integration, in collaboration with SJI subject matter experts and external consultants.
Analyze and report on policy/market trends, pipeline sales opportunities, and placement outcomes to internal stakeholders.
Collaborate closely with the Strategy and Corporate Development teams to evaluate potential new project and M&A opportunities including due diligence.
Lead integration of any project or program acquisitions.
Identify and pursue new market opportunities to utilize RNG in new products, geographies, or markets.
Required Skills:
Deep industry knowledge of RNG markets and monetization strategies, with practical experience in origination, sales or comparable commercial role.
Existing network in renewable energy industry with proven track record of energy offtake contract negotiations.
Strong understanding of compliance regulatory programs (RFS, LCFS, IRA).
Qualifications
Required Background:
- Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 11 years of relevant experience, or;
- Master’s degree with 8 years of relevant experience.
- In addition, a minimum of 2 years of leadership experience is required.
- Equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
Compensation Range:
$140,000 - 210,000
We are committed to pay transparency and ensuring equitability compensation for all employees. The pay range for this position reflects the base salary only and does not include benefits, bonuses, or other forms of compensation that might be part of the total compensation package. The specific salary offered will be based on a candidate’s qualifications, education, and experience.
