Leidos, a Fortune 500 company, and leader in the Energy Infrastructure and Automation market, is seeking to hire an Energy Automation Solution Architect to join our team. This a great opportunity for someone with broad skills across technical, management, and business process transformation domains to help lead the discovery and design of next generation energy and power design strategies.  The selected candidate will work with internal customers, leaders, and engineering teams to understand and refine current and future energy design workflows, collaboratively envision future technology-enabled workflows, align AI and automation technologies to help achieve those changes, and collaborate across teams to estimate the value those transformations could represent to our teams and customers.

The ideal candidate will have exceptional skills in communication, engagement, collaboration, team leadership and be a self-starter requiring minimal supervision and direction.  The ideal candidate will have excellent investigative skills and an ability to connect with people to dig into processes and cultivate/develop insights from those interactions. The candidate should be intellectually curious, enjoy discovery and learning, and possess sufficient technical and analytical skills to separate hyperbole from opportunity.  Experience with utility power systems (Transmission, Substation, Distribution, Planning) and fundamental AI technologies is a great basis for success, as is business acumen and perspective.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop a broad understanding of our businesses and strategies
  • Engage engineers and leaders across our business to learn about frictions, gaps, and opportunities to drive efficiency in our energy business
  • Develop strong understanding of as-is processes and develop documentation
  • Collaborate to explore opportunities to drive beneficial and disruptive change
  • Develop to-be visions of processes and methods through deep collaboration with power and AI SMEs
  • Communicate, refine, and evolve concepts to align technical, business, and physics constraints
  • Cultivate a repository of these use cases and opportunities and serve as the informed leader for development teams who seek to execute, deliver, and transform workflow tools and techniques as the ‘big picture thinker’.
  • Serve both internal and external clients as necessary, and flex between discovery leadership and execution leadership to help lead concepts to reality.
  • Sell the vision for change you help create and cultivate to skeptics and laggards who remain unsure, and integrate the frictions and concerns their experience can foresee.

Basic Qualifications

.

  • Bachelor's Degree with eight plus (4+) years of relevant experience. May consider more years of relevant experience in lieu of degree
  • Strong problem-solving, conceptual, and analytical abilities
  • Experience developing architecture and strategy plans for people/process workflows
  • Basic knowledge of electric power systems and the power grid
  • Basic conceptual knowledge of AI/ML strategies including supervised, unsupervised, semi-supervised, and reinforcement learning
  • An intellectually curious mindset and passion for learning / sense-making
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills; you will need to learn enough to envision and champion change
  • Excellent teamwork skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks independently
  • Must currently have a valid U.S Passport or the ability to obtain one for international travel
  • Ability to travel up to (50%)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Direct experience in low/medium/high voltage power system design
  • Formal AI training courses or degree
  • Direct experience as a business process change consultant

Pay Range:Pay Range $85,150.00 - $153,925.00

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
