Human Interest is seeking an experienced Employment & Compliance Counsel to join its Legal team. This pivotal role supports Human Interest’s mission to make retirement savings accessible and affordable for employees of small and medium-sized businesses nationwide.
As Employment & Compliance Counsel, you will serve as the primary legal advisor to the People Team on all aspects of employment law, including hiring, performance management, terminations, and sensitive employee matters. You will provide proactive counsel on employment law compliance, with particular depth advising on non-exempt employee populations, and support internal investigations, policy development, and employment documentation.
In addition to employment counseling, you will provide broad legal support across the business, including regulatory investigations, privacy and information security matters, litigation support, and contract review. This dual-mandate role requires a strategic partner who can translate complex legal requirements into practical guidance for business stakeholders in a fast-paced, regulated fintech environment.
The ideal candidate brings 8–10+ years of legal experience, including significant employment law counseling and at least one prior in-house legal role. A law firm background and experience in high-growth technology companies are strong assets. Demonstrated fluency with AI tools and a commitment to leveraging technology for legal work are essential.
