The Embedded Software Engineer III supports the embedded software development, design, test for Honeybee Robotics’ electronic Motion Control products. You will participate in multi-disciplinary project team working to develop complex electromechanical actuator systems. You will collaborate closely with electrical engineers in the lab, integrating hardware and firmware. Your work will span through development phases, eventually transitioning a flight-ready product to the manufacturing and test engineering teams. You will own individual design tasks, participate in design reviews, create appropriate documentation, and occasionally interface with customers in a technical role. This may also include reviewing the work and tasks of more junior engineers.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Development and support of firmware on softcore RISC-V architecture for motion control
  • Testing, troubleshooting, and long-term support of embedded system firmware

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited technical college or university in Electrical Engineering and/or Computer Science
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience
  • Experience with embedded system design using C/C++, including:
    • Development and implementation of bare metal C code
    • Experience with RISC-V (or similar) soft-core processors
    • Experience in prototype development, debug, and test in a lab environment
    • Board-level communication interfaces (I2C, SPI, UART, RS-232, RS-422, RS-485, CAN)
  • Experience with Requirements Based Design:
    • Configuration Management and Revision Control tools and methodologies, including GitLab
    • Requirements analysis and derivation
    • Architectural and design documentation
    • Verification and Test Procedures & Reports
    • Interface Control Documents
  • Ability to work in a highly skilled development team:
    • History of working closely with electrical engineering, systems engineering, & manufacturing
    • Familiarity with DevOps processes and culture
    • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience designing embedded software for motion control and electromechanical systems for space environments
  • Understanding of safety-critical software development standards such as DO-178C
  • Comfortable working in an FPGA environment including:
    • VHDL/Verilog languages, synthesis tools and methodologies
    • DSP or Microcontroller firmware development
    • AXI bus protocols
  • Familiarity with:
    • Static Design Analysis and Simulation (LINT, SystemC)
    • Guidance, Navigation and Control systems, C&DH, and Space Environmental challenges

 

Compensation Range for:

CO applicants is $135,679.00-$189,950.25
