Posting Dates: 3/17/26-3/31/26
Full-time, on-site role.

About the role

The Electromechanical Engineer supports the design, development, and ongoing operation of electromechanical systems used in precision shutter manufacturing and assembly at Advanced Thin Films. This is a hands-on, on-site role within a high-volume, high-complexity production environment with tight tolerances and high reliability expectations.

The role is suited for a self-starting, mid-level engineer who is safety-focused, quality-driven, and comfortable making independent decisions while considering team input. A growth mindset, willingness to teach, and low-ego approach are important for success, especially when collaborating across manufacturing, quality, operations, and engineering teams. Flexibility during project ramp-up and ramp-out cycles is key.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and support electromechanical systems and subsystems including motors, sensors, actuators, motion systems, and control components.
  • Create, review, and maintain electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and mechanical drawings.
  • Support prototyping, testing, and validation of new designs and equipment modifications.
  • Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues in manufacturing, lab, and cleanroom settings.
  • Support production equipment used in inspection and process operations.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, process engineering, quality, and operations teams to improve equipment reliability, uptime, and performance.
  • Participate in structured root cause analysis and corrective action activities such as 5 Whys.
  • Develop and execute test plans for electromechanical systems.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation including specifications, work instructions, and test reports.
  • Contribute to engineering change and controlled documentation processes.
  • Ensure systems comply with internal safety requirements and applicable regulatory standards.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and cross-functional problem-solving.
  • Operate with a teamwork-oriented, teacher-first mindset that supports knowledge-sharing and mentoring.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electromechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Process Engineering, or a related field.
  • Three to six years of experience designing, supporting, or troubleshooting electromechanical systems in manufacturing, equipment, or lab environments.
  • Experience with LabVIEW, SolidWorks, and general PCB design.
  • Experience working within a quality management system and using quality tools such as 5 Whys.
  • Soldering experience or certifications preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to read, interpret, and create electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
  • Strong hands-on troubleshooting skills across electrical, mechanical, and electromechanical systems.
  • Understanding of system integration, testing methods, and reliability engineering.
  • Familiarity with equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, environmental chambers, power supplies, and programmable boards like Arduino.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and thorough documentation habits.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on reliability, safety, and repeatability.
  • Ability to work independently with sound decision-making while incorporating team perspectives.
  • Proven success working collaboratively and professionally with teams; able to contribute without ego.
  • Adaptable and capable of maintaining effectiveness during rapid project changes or production transitions.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

  • On-site role based in Longmont, Colorado.
  • Regular work in cleanrooms, labs, and manufacturing environments.
  • May involve standing, walking, bending, and working near production equipment.
  • Occasional lifting of equipment or components within safety guidelines.
  • Use of personal protective equipment as required.
