Salary: $80,000 - $140,000

York Space Systems is looking for an Electro-Optical (EO) Systems Engineer with 2-6 years of experience.
York EO Systems Engineers work closely with our technology partners and internal subsystems for ensuring customer electro-optical missions are actualized. The ideal candidate looks forward to being a focal point for successful cross-disciplinary integration of electro-optical payloads.
As an EO Systems Engineer at York, you will experience the full EO system life cycle from proposal to on-orbit commissioning, with a mixture of hands-on hardware activities and at the desk systems engineering work.
This is a systems integrator role that is highly vendor and customer facing, not a design role.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Facilitate partner optical system verification and integration for York spacecraft.
- Support the full systems engineering development lifecycle for electro-optical products.
- Determine optical payload specifications in accordance with spacecraft designs, customer requirements, and industry standards.
- Oversee the design, development, testing, and delivery of electro-optical payloads by our suppliers.
- Support requirement decomposition and allocation regarding electro-optical components
- Work across the supply chain and York engineering team to define interfaces and ensure compatibility between optical payloads and the Space Vehicles.
- Support on-orbit optical payload testing and operations through the development of operational procedures.
- Develop and maintain standard systems engineering products in support of major engineering program reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR, PSR, etc.)
- Participate in vendor/customer calls as the technical POC for the organization for a program of record
- Work closely with subject matter experts to ensure successful integration and operation of electro-optical payloads.
- Will require some travel to support testing and launch.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Optical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field.
- Prior experience with development and test of precision electro-optical systems.
- Prior experience with environmental test campaigns of electro-optical components (such as vibration testing and thermal chamber testing)
- Prior experience throughout the systems engineering process
- Basic ability to use Jira to manage and track tasking
- Ability to perform under deadline: accountable and self-driven.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Organized and a decent multitasker across multiple projects.
- Detail-orientated and data- driven.
- Must have, or a willingness to obtain, a DoD Security Clearance
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Applicants meeting one or more of the below criteria are preferred.
- Experience with the environments experienced by a spacecraft and their implications to precision optical systems.
- Experience in the design, development, and/or testing of electro-optical payloads (e.g. lasers, optical comm, lidar) for space.
- Knowledge of basic communications theory principles
- Knowledge of basic optical test equipment (power meters, spectrum analyzers, etc.)
- Background in electronics or networking
- Active DoD Security Clearance
