Discover Impactful Work:Thermo Fisher Scientific’s Customer Channels Group seeks an EHS Professional to assist with EHS programs at multiple distribution center/warehouse sites. This role is regionally focused, primarily at one site and will provide remote support and occasional travel to others. The candidate will work independently under the mentorship of the EHS Manager.
A day in the Life:- Support the home-based site byworking with the local leadership team and establishing relationships with local colleagues
- Coordinate regular communications and meetings with all sites in the region
- Act as a vital part of CCG’s EHS Team, comprising team members situated across North America
- Develop a safety calendar for the upcoming month featuring daily safety tips
- Draft weekly Safety Stand-Up meetings (toolbox talks)
- Update and upkeep EHS policies, programs, and procedures to guarantee adherence to relevant federal, state, and local regulations as well as corporate standards.
- Be a safety advocate and proactively look for opportunities to improve the EHS management system and our interdependent safety culture
- Provide expertise for special projects related to EHS compliance, risk management, hazardous materials, industrial hygiene, safety, and ergonomics for the business group.
- Participate in Gemba walks finding opportunities related to EH&S
- Support handling/removal/compliance of hazardous waste
- Conduct internal EHS audits, prepare audit reports, and assist and supervise closure of audit findings
- Provide leadership during/after regulatory audits and internal compliance audits ensuring that any identified non-compliances are contained and corrected
- Coordinate the region’s accident and incident reporting process. Participate in incident investigations, ensuring root cause and countermeasure identification is completed to eliminate future incidents.
- Generate/supervise regular reporting of all EHS metrics and key performance indicators both at the site and corporate level
- Prepare and submit EHS reports and records (OSHA logs, RCRA Hazardous Waste Reporting, Sara Title III Tier II reporting)
- Revise and uphold Emergency Response Plans
- Assist the Managed Services Unity Lab Services team from an EHS standpoint as required and acquaint yourself with their on-site customer support initiatives
- Assist the with and gain understanding of the dangerous goods compliance program
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Science, Risk Management, or a related scientific field such as Biology, Chemistry, or Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- Professional accreditation (ASP, CSP, CIH, CHMM, CDGP) is helpful, but not required.
- 2 years in an EH&S role, preferably in warehousing, distribution, or chemical industry
- Solid understanding of regulations pertaining to EH&S and related compliance requirements with strong attention to details
- Ability to proactively anticipate and resolve regulatory questions, to meet anticipated timelines for regulatory requirements
- Ability to lead and facilitate projects to conclusion, adapt to changes in the work environment, and demonstrate flexibility
- Ability to multi-task keeping company objectives and demonstrate appropriate sense of urgency with regards to responsiveness with addressing any high-risk compliance issues, and handle risk proactively
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook
- Experience with PowerBi, PowerAutomate, SQL, or other data analysis abilities would be advantageous, though not required.
- Travel up to 30%
- The physical demands for an EHS Specialist III encompass a mix of office-based tasks and fieldwork.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

Compensation and Benefits
The salary range estimated for this position based in Illinois is $75,800.00–$113,675.00.This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy.
