POSITION OVERVIEW
York Space Systems LLC is seeking a talented Electrical, Electronic, and Electromechanical (EEE) Components Reliability Engineer to join the Electrical Engineering team. The successful candidate will be an analytical thinker and life-long learner who continually seeks a deeper understanding and expertise in EEE Components for spacecraft in harsh radiation environments. They must be attentive to detail and disciplined at documentation to ensure quality and maintainability in our products.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Perform board-level derating analysis for spaceflight systems.
  • Provide guidance to hardware engineers on part selection and tradeoffs.
  • Develop and advise on radiation test plans (e.g., TID, SEE, Heavy Ion, Laser testing).
  • Coordinate radiation testing with external labs and vendors.
  • Conduct failure analysis to determine root causes and failure mechanisms.
  • Combine simulation and test data to predict radiation-induced upset rates.
  • Present radiation mitigation strategies to internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Support firmware and software engineers with SEE mitigation planning.
  • Perform system-level radiation risk assessments and create formal reports.
  • Maintain a parts obsolescence database and recommend alternate components.
  • Contribute to risk and trade studies for product design reviews.
  • Contribute to board/lab testing and design validation.
     
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • B.S. or higher in Electrical Engineering, Reliability Engineering, or Physics.
  • 4+ years of experience in EEE component analysis and radiation effects.
  • Experience with EEE part reliability, derating, qualification, failure analysis, and destructive physical analysis (DPA).
  • Familiarity with space derating standards (EEE-INST-002, MSCF-STD-3012).
  • Familiarity with radiation test methods and mitigation strategies.
  • Ability to analyze and synthesize technical literature related to radiation tolerance.
  • Understanding of the space radiation environment and EEE component behavior.
  • Hands-on knowledge of basic circuit analysis and reading schematics.
  • Strong grasp of EEE part construction, wafer fabrication, and materials science.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including a demonstrated ability to interact with management and peers.
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative “small-team” culture and environment.
  • Proven ability to work independently, take ownership of tasks, and drive them to completion with minimal oversight.
     
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience supporting spacecraft or aerospace electronics development.
  • Knowledge of design techniques for radiation upset mitigation.
  • Experience performing single event effect (SEE) analysis.
  • Experience with OMERE.
  • Experience with Silicon Expert and GIDEP tools.
  • Understanding of MIL-HDBK-217F reliability analysis methods.
  • Experience with lab validation tools: oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, electronic loads, power analyzers, etc.
  • Experience maintaining component databases or part lifecycle management tools.
