As an Editorial Operations Specialist, you will assist with contracts and compensation for a network of over 2,500 independent contractors, using your strong communication and organizational skills to help manage the flow of information between staff and contractors.
Remote or Hybrid 3x a week
In-office Expectations: This position offers remote work flexibility; however, if you reside within a commutable distance to our Des Moines office, the expectation is to work from the office three times per week.
About The Positions Contributions:
● Oversee contracts and tax forms for several brands and divisions
● Serve as the main point of contact for 1099 contractor compliance tracking in conjunction with HR and compliance teams
● Work closely with the legal team to process contract changes and develop new contracts when necessary
● Serve as a lead for onboarding processes and documentation
● Enter data accurately to ensure a smooth setup for freelancer payments
● Communicate with editorial team members and freelancers regularly to ensure accurate contract processing and accrual tracking
● Accurately and efficiently assess problems submitted to Editorial Operations regarding contracts and compensation; determine if the problems can be resolved independently or escalate as needed
● Create and regularly update documentation
● Input information into DDMPP shared drive and maintain and monitor the Google Drive to make sure department details are being updated and updating records in DDMPP photoshoot database
● Upload images for titles currently working on into Assets, including adding required metadata
● Upload all Location Releases to Schedules specific to publication stories to assure that asset rights are complete
● Responsible for preparing charge-offs for all assigned magazine issues by the monthly deadlines. This includes verifying photography information; compiling a list of all source information and costs for photography, illustrations, and manuscripts; sending out complimentary copies to all contributors; and maintaining issue files.
● Provides support for editors and designers on magazines published within the People Inc Premium Publishing, BHG and MWL departments.
● Research and respond to consumer correspondence. Perform special projects and assignments as requested by editors, designers and Editorial Business Manager
The Role’s Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements:
● Exceptional troubleshooting, organizational, and communication skills
● Strong attention to detail
● Familiarity with Salesforce, Airtable, Agiloft, and Adobe Sign a plus
● Proficient with MS Office and Google Docs
Familiarity with online publishing (such as content creation and curation) preferred
● Proactive, flexible team player with a sense of humor and entrepreneurial energy, able to adjust priorities quickly as needed, and take ownership in a fluid and fast-moving environment.

Pay Range
Hourly: Remote: $20.00 - $25.00The pay range above represents the anticipated low and high end of the pay range for this position and may change in the future. Actual pay may vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to work location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of People Inc's total compensation package for employees. Other compensation may include annual bonuses, and short- and long-term incentives.
