The Opportunity:

The eCornell Data Analyst III will play a key role supporting eCornell by analyzing data from multiple systems and sources to answer key operational questions.

Deep experience using a variety of data mining/data analysis methods to build and implement dashboards, models and algorithms that can help stakeholders discover insights and optimize business outcomes and processes is critical for the role. An outstanding ability to build, and operationalize BI tools, pull and analyze data, and create meaningful reports to drive informed, effective decisions is required.

The ideal candidate will be fluent in using statistical coding languages such as Python, R and SQL to query large datasets from a data warehouse and create meaningful visualizations in BI tools such as Tableau.

What you will do:

  • Partner closely with stakeholders to leverage data to drive business optimization and decision-making, effectively communicating insights and recommendations.

  • Develop BI tools and analyses to monitor and analyze marketing and sales operations and performance on an ongoing basis.

  • Create meaningful visualizations in BI tools such as Tableau to optimize reporting on data.

  • Develop custom data models and algorithms to apply to data sets.

  • Use predictive modeling to drive operational decisions and staffing to optimize business outcomes.

  • Contribute to data architecture planning.

  • Clean/scrub data to ensure meaningful reporting.

  • Migrate existing Business Intelligence dashboards and tools to a new data warehouse stack.

  • Articulate key insights from data analysis.

What you will need:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (in Computer Science, Statistics, Math, Engineering or other quantitative field) and 3-5 years relevant work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • 1-3 years of experience manipulating data sets and building statistical models, demonstrating:

    • A strong grasp of valid statistical methods

    • Applied expertise in statistical techniques, concepts and algorithms (regression, predictive analytics modeling, statistical tests, etc.)

    • Comfort making and documenting reasonable assumptions when conditions are uncertain or not fully defined

    • Experience designing and working with data architectures

    • Experience integrating data cleanly from multiple systems and 3rd party sources

    • Tactical understanding of the intersection of data with on-the-ground business operations
       

  • Familiar with the following software/tools/languages:

    • Fluent with statistical computer languages (SQL, Python, R, etc.)

    • Experienced in querying databases and manipulating data to draw insights from large data sets

    • Expert in Tableau with experience creating data visualizations and exportable dashboards

    • Expert at business analytics using Microsoft Excel 

    • Familiarity with ETL processes and using data warehouse processes and web services such as AWS Redshift, S3, etc

    • Familiarity with sales and marketing software and automation systems or digital advertising platforms a plus (Salesforce, Pardot, Google Adwords, Google Analytics, etc)

  • Additional Skills

    • Ability to operate in an agile, fast-paced environment with a sense of urgency

    • Positive energy, responsive attitude

    • Strong problem-solving skills

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for coordinating across teams and with developers

    • Excellent collaboration and communication ability

    • Thorough, end-to-end execution ability
