About The Role
As the Director of User Experience (UX), you will be instrumental in shaping how critical medical information reaches its audience. You'll lead our agency's commitment to user-centric design, overseeing strategic UX initiatives that deliver intuitive and impactful digital solutions for healthcare professionals and patients.
What You'll Do
- Establish a long-term vision for user experience across medical communication platforms and products (HCP and Patient websites, digital tools for HCPs, patient resources, scientific platforms).
- Advocate for and instill a strong user-centric culture with cross-functional teams.
- Identify and drive future opportunities by monitoring emerging technologies, digital health trends, and UX best practices, to drive innovation and efficiency.
- Ensure that all UX design and content adheres to relevant medical regulations, accessibility standards, and ethical guidelines in healthcare communication.
- Leverage user research activities to understand the needs, behaviors, and motivations of diverse user groups.
- Analyze research findings to identify key pain points, opportunities, and user requirements, translating these into actionable design decisions.
- Support user testing plans to ensure that solutions are effective, intuitive, and meet user needs.
- Utilize expertise in design principles, UX standards, and technology frameworks to shape digital solutions, experience design, content strategy, and UI requirements.
- Take ownership of UX deliverables, ensure quality and consistency, and collaborate with Digital leadership to ensure cross-capability alignment.
- Recruit, mentor, and manage all levels of UX designers, fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous learning & growth, and design excellence.
- Define and implement effective UX tooling and processes to maintain team efficiency, agility, and quality.
- Define processes and rules of engagement.
- Partner with cross-disciplinary teams (Client Services, Strategy, Engineering, and Creative), fostering enthusiasm for UX and embedding best practices.
- Plan and facilitate workshops to translate complex requirements into intuitive design strategies.
- Articulate design decisions, user research findings, and UX strategies, clearly and compellingly to internal and external teams.
- In agency settings, effectively manage stakeholder expectations regarding UX deliverables and project timelines.
- Ensure accurate time tracking, strong team alignment, and overall project health.
- Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) for user experience success, such as usability, engagement, and content comprehension.
- Utilize data and user feedback to continuously refine design solutions, to improve user outcomes and meet business objectives.

About You
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in a related field.
- At least 3 to 5 years of experience at leadership level 10 to 15+ years of experience in the field of UX Design.
- Significant experience (3+ years) working in a highly regulated sector is preferred.
- Exemplary presentation and storytelling skills, confident in articulating complex UX concepts, research findings, and strategic recommendations.
- An expert influencer and negotiator, always advocating for user needs whilst balancing competing priorities and stakeholder perspectives.
- Someone who thrives in dynamic environments where information might be evolving or incomplete.
- A structured, analytical mindset, able to synthesize complex requirements into manageable parts that translate business goals and user needs into compelling, innovative solutions.
- Detail focused, but big-picture minded - can dive into the specifics of an interaction flow whilst always keeping the overarching strategic goals in mind.
- A proven track record of building, leading and scaling high-performing UX teams within a regulated industry. A passion for elevating team performance through mentorship, inclusion, and collaboration.
- Proven success in delivering omni-channel digital projects and large-scale platform initiatives, informed by data.
- A compelling portfolio that demonstrates strategic impact on products and organizations, and end-to-end UX Design expertise.
- Comfortable working both independently and with interdisciplinary teams.
