Director, Tax

We are currently looking for a highly motivated individual to lead Ibotta’s Tax initiatives as Director of Tax to contribute to our mission to Make Every Purchase Rewarding.  The ideal candidate will bring strong tax expertise, business acumen, and leadership skills to oversee all aspects of tax compliance, reporting, and planning. In this role, the Tax Manager will manage federal and state income tax provisions and returns, determine feasibility and access to tax credits, ensure reporting compliance, and advise senior leadership on the impact of tax laws. The position also offers the opportunity to implement process improvements and identify strategic tax planning opportunities that drive long-term growth.

This position is located in Denver, Colorado as a hybrid position requiring 3 days in office (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday). Candidates must live in the United States.

What you will be doing:

• Manage strategic tax projects for the entire company, supporting the development of best-in-class processes for tax reporting, compliance, and planning

• Manage the preparation and review of the federal and state income tax provisions and filing of tax returns

• Ensure proper ASC 740 tax accounting and SEC reporting disclosures

• Partner with leaders cross-functionally, advising on tax law and documentation preparation

• Implement process improvements, enhancing operational efficiencies, and oversee the tax control environment.

• Research and analyze the impact of new tax legislation and impact to the business

• Identify tax planning opportunities and manage all tax compliance matters

• Manage review of quarterly and year-end provision by external auditors

• Ensure quality control standards are met

What we are looking for:

• 8-10+ years of experience in Accounting, including 3+ years managing a Tax function

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance preferred

• CPA or similar certification required

• Comprehensive understanding of US GAAP accounting for income taxes

• Experience partnering with senior leadership

• Great communication skills, both written and verbal

• This position is located in Denver, CO and includes competitive pay, flexible time off, benefits package (including medical, dental, vision), Lifestyle Spending Account, Employee Stock Purchase Program, and 401k match. Denver office perks include paid parking, snacks, and occasional meals.

• Base compensation range: $165,000 - $186,000. Equity is included in the overall compensation package. This compensation range is specific to the United States labor market and may be adjusted based on actual experience. Total compensation for this role also includes a variable component in addition to base salary.
