At Dscout, we’re building the most flexible and powerful UX research platform on the market—trusted by the world’s top brands in finance (JP Morgan Chase), healthcare (Aya, Headspace), consumer goods (Keen, Verizon), and tech (FAANG, Spotify, AirBnB). Our tools help teams deeply understand the humans behind their products, so they can build better ones.

We’re already recognized as a leader in the UX research space. Now, we’re going even further. We’re transforming our platform and internal development lifecycle to be AI-first—rethinking how we collect, analyze, and act on rich media data (think: video, audio, open text) at scale. Engineers at Dscout aren’t just maintaining code—they’re building what’s next: whole new products and infrastructure designed from the ground up with GenAI at the core.

If you’re curious, collaborative, and excited about using AI to solve meaningful, complex problems—we’d love to meet you.

The opportunity

You are an Engineering Director who doesn't just tolerate change—you drive it. You'll be a key leader during one of the most transformative periods in our industry and company's history, working directly with upper management to architect new ways of working, drive technical evolution, and guide teams through change with confidence and clarity. This role demands someone who can operate with high autonomy, make critical decisions under ambiguity, and bring teams along through continuous transformation.

This isn't about maintaining the status quo. You'll be architecting new ways of working, upskilling teams in real-time, leading through organizational shifts, and building the engineering culture that will carry us into the AI-first future.

If you’re excited to lead world-class engineers into the AI-first future of UX, we’d love to hear from you.

What you will do

Lead through transformation

- Drive technical, process, and organizational changes as we evolve our development practices and product strategy
- Lead the continued organizational evolution with clarity and confidence
- Make high-stakes decisions independently when the path forward isn't clear
- Serve as a trusted partner to the VP of Engineering, taking ownership of major initiatives with autonomy and impact

Build and develop teams

- Lead, mentor, and grow engineering teams through periods of significant transformation
- Champion upskilling and continuous learning on your team to accelerate AI adoption across the organization
- Attract, retain, and develop engineering talent aligned with our evolving needs
- Foster psychological safety while maintaining high performance standards

Drive technical excellence

- Evolve AI-driven development practices and continuously raise the bar in this ever-evolving field
- Establish engineering standards, practices, and processes fit for an AI-first organization
- Partner with Principal Engineers to make architectural decisions that position us for both immediate needs and long-term scalability
- Drive tech strategy adoption and ensure your teams are making the right trade offs within the bigger tech & product strategy

Execute with velocity

- Move fast and make things happen in an environment where priorities shift regularly
- Maintain unwavering focus on product and business objectives while partnering with Product to shape and drive the roadmap
- Cut through ambiguity to create clarity and actionable plans
- Build feedback loops that allow rapid iteration on both products and processes
- Maintain momentum even when dealing with incomplete information

What you bring

- 6+ years of engineering management experience (with 10+ years in technology in general), with proven success leading through significant organizational or technical transformation
- Managed teams of 15+ engineers, either directly or through other managers
- Track record of collaborating with Product leadership to translate strategy into executable plans that deliver measurable business outcomes
- Deep technical credibility that earns respect from senior engineers while being able to think strategically about architecture and systems
- Experience with modern web application development (cloud infrastructure, microservices, APIs, databases)
- Experience with AI/ML technologies such as LLMs, embeddings, RAG systems, or AI-assisted development tools
- Hands on experience with AI-driven development
- Demonstrated comfort with ambiguity and ability to make sound decisions with incomplete information
- Track record of operating autonomously at a high level, taking ownership of outcomes without constant oversight
- Exceptional people leadership skills including coaching, conflict resolution, and building high-trust relationships
- Experience with AI integration or leading teams through major technology transitions
- B2B SaaS experience, ideally in a scale-up environment (50+ people)
- Relentless drive and bias for action—you push through obstacles and inspire teams to do the same
