Position Summary
This position primarily supports Arch Insurance Group’s Construction Specialty Products business unit by assisting underwriting in risk prequalification, assessment and selection; identifying/guiding customer service needs and developing appropriate service plans; managing agreed upon account activities, expenses and relationships; monitoring and maintaining risk control; and developing/delivering risk control information that assists Underwriting and clients in understanding, evaluating and controlling exposures.
Technical Skills
Risk Selection
- The primary function of this position is to support the placement of profitable insurance. Specific technical activities will include:
- Working collaboratively with Underwriting to review risk submissions to ensure that they include adequate information for you to lead and complete a meaningful Operational risk evaluation based on contemplated program coverages.
- Leading standardized Insured evaluation from an Operational risk and subcontracting standpoint for each client/prospect including
- Evaluation of QAQC program, scheduling methodology, software as applicable, and project management consistency as well as class of risk, geographical location, nature of occupancy, etc, and
- Identification of specific accidents/claims that represent atypical and typical occurrences.
- Responding to specific underwriter questions and provide support on operational processes and emerging
- Supporting account profitability by identifying appropriate risk control services, activities, and/or interventions.
- Supporting account acquisition through general marketing and account specific sales presentations.
- Providing pre-renewal monitoring and feedback to underwriter.
- Differentiate Arch Risk Control Solutions via strategic risk management philosophy.
Customer Service
- Responding to customer service requests, meeting agreed upon needs and building customer relationships to support account retention.
- Acting as a technical resource for client best practices and inquiries
- Coordinating and performing Jobsite walks and corresponding feedback
- Maintaining touchpoints with Insured’s operational team as account stewardship
- Negotiating service specifications or customer service needs with the producer and/or account to develop service proposal and pricing for inclusion in underwriter proposal.
- Investigating and managing potential relationships with vendors as needed
Ongoing Account Management
- Manage account relationships to meet or exceed expectations through:
- Evaluating client book based on current information to develop baseline
- Serving as the Internal expert for UW on all things "construction"
- Continually interfacing with UW on processes and procedures.
- Providing operational feedback around any referrals UW is reviewing
- Staying on top of industry trends and provide updates to UW
- Building and maintaining trusted advisor relationships with clients, producers, underwriters, and other team partners.
- Monitoring assigned account risk control activities to ensure that service and financial outcomes are delivered in accordance with agreed upon criteria.
- Serving as a liaison with Arch claims and TPAs.
- Monitoring significant claims activity and getting involved as appropriate to minimize future potential.
- As necessary, participating in claim reviews.
Additive Services
- Facilitating Client group meeting
- Executing projects to improve internal team processes or help drive strategy as needed
- Partnering with UW around innovative training for our insureds
Communications
- Represent Arch Risk Control Solutions in industry/trade group presentations and/or articles as well as client meetings.
- Must be comfortable presenting to groups as well as creating thorough written documentation of meetings with clients.
- Prepare technical information sheets for internal/external use on current topics of interest for clients and internal partners
Education & Experience
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in a Technical Discipline or equivalent experience
- Experience: 8+ years of construction management roles, and/or Risk Control/Risk Management Experience (a broad background with experience in diverse industries and operations and knowledge in varied risk control disciplines (such as operational risk management, Quality Assurance and Control, or Subcontractor Prequalification) Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations, such as PE valued but not required,

Travel
- Ability for frequent travel throughout the United States to service multi-state accounts and participate in internal meetings and industry functions. Estimated routine overnight travel is 30% with periodic peaks to 40 - 50%.

For individuals assigned or hired to work in the location(s) indicated below, the base salary range is provided. Range is as of the time of posting. Position is incentive eligible.
For Chicago. Denver, St. Paul: $145,000 - $170,000/year
Total individual compensation (base salary, short & long-term incentives) offered will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to geographic location, scope & responsibilities of the role, qualifications, talent availability & specialization as well as business needs. The above pay range may be modified in the future.
