Senior Director of Sales, SMC Sales
Location: US (Remote)
Reports To: VP of SMC Sales
Job Summary:
Hitachi is seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Director of Sales to part of our SMC Sales Organization. This leader will oversee a team of Account Executives that sell all solution areas within the Microsoft portfolio.
The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in sales leadership, coupled with a strong understanding of the Microsoft ecosystem, and experience driving growth in diverse industries. This role demands strategic leadership, customer focus, and the ability to foster collaboration within Microsoft’s ecosystem to deliver innovative solutions to our customers.

Key Responsibilities:
- Inspire, coach, and manage a team of Account Executives (AEs) to consistently meet and exceed the revenue and customer acquisition goals.
- Develop and implement innovative, scalable best practices that accelerate business generation and customer acquisition. Support key deal execution while teaching strategic prioritization to drive consistent success across the team.
- Own forecasting and pipeline management to ensure predictable performance against quarterly and annual targets. Monitor and analyze sales performance data to identify trends, challenges, and opportunities for coaching and optimization.
- Recruit, hire, onboard, and train new AEs to support business growth. Champion internal enablement programs to maximize team productivity and long-term success.
- Help shape go-to-market plans through market analysis, segment prioritization, solution feedback and sales motions.
- Continuously monitor and analyze sales performance metrics to identify trends, address challenges, and uncover opportunities for improvement.
- Maintain a deep understanding of all Microsoft solution areas, including Business Applications (CRM & ERP), Data and Analytics, Data Science, AI/ML, and Platform and App/Dev. Actively engage with Microsoft teams at all levels to align strategies and leverage opportunities within their customer base.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with North American customers, acting as a trusted advisor in their digital transformation journeys.
- Champion customer success by delivering tailored, value-driven Microsoft solutions.
- Leverage insights in specific industries to drive solutions that address customer-specific challenges.
- While focused on North America, maintain awareness of global business practices to ensure strategic alignment with broader organizational objectives
Qualifications
- Post-secondary degree/diploma in Business, Computer Science or a related discipline or work experience equivalent. 5 plus years’ experience in leading a sales team.
- Strong and established Microsoft customer facing team relationships a plus strong written and presentation communication skills.
- 10+ years of B2B sales experience, with a strong focus on SMB or mid-market customer acquisition and growth.
- 5+ years of direct experience leading high-performing sales teams with a proven record of exceeding targets.
- Demonstrated success in building and scaling sales teams during periods of rapid growth.
- Strong operational expertise in forecasting, sales planning, and pipeline management.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and data-driven decision-making skills.
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic and entrepreneurial environment and to work with a team.
- Build a resilient, adaptable team that can excel in a fast-changing environment.
Additional Information
Base Salary Pay Range*: $170,000 to $200,000
*The current applicable Base Salary Pay Range for this role is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills relevant to the role, internal equity, alignment with market data, or other law.
