SUMMARY:

We are looking for a Engineering Leader to join our Mapping and GIS engineering team. In this full-stack role, you will own and grow Placer’s mapping experiences and infrastructure, and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Placer’s product suite and platform.  Our product’s development and user experience. Role is US-based. Director level.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Recruit, train and manage a team of stellar full-stack engineers.
  • Manage and technically lead full-stack, US & Latam based engineering teams
  • Lead the architecture, design and development of our mapping infrastructure and user experiences.
  • Technically interface with a large number of teams, and provide mapping services for our Dashboards, customer reports and, partners (as embedded widgets).
  • Participate in the development of our long term product vision 
  • Collaborate with product managers, and be close to our business requirements and business needs.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Demonstrated multi-year experience in full-stack engineering, focused on user experience of large-scale spatial / GIS products or services.
  • Proven ability to recruit, train and maintain star developers in America.
  • Leader, technical mentor and a people manager with strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Hands-on manager, who loves to write and review code, with hands-on experience in recent full-stack / front-end mapping technologies. 
  • Strong coding skills and a “get-things-done” approach.
  • Ability to Engineer, design and develop large scale, high performance mapping components.
  • Extensive experience in designing and building scalable frontend infrastructure, easily maintained and extended. 
  • Critical / First principle thinking - able to identify root causes of issues and tightly collaborate with all parts of the organization.
  • Familiarity with recent technologies in the Full-stack / Front-end domain.

Nice to have experience

  • Hands-on experience with Mapbox and/or ESRI infrastructure.
  • Experience with data related technologies such as Spark, Kafka, Python, Scala, NoSQL and analytical databases.
  • Experience with a cloud platform: GCP (preferred), AWS or Azure.
  • Experience in data analytic and data analysis.

The U.S. annualized pay range for this position is $220,000-$270,000 USD. In addition, certain roles have the opportunity to earn sales-based commissions. Base pay offered within the stated range may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including job-related skills, professional experience, education and licenses (if applicable), work location and compensation market data.

Base pay is just a part of our total rewards program. Placer provides medical, dental and vision coverage as well as flexible time off, 401K and equity awards for certain roles.
