POSITION SUMMARY: The Director, Project Management‘s primary focus is to oversee and manage multiple projects to ensure a proper delivery of each project, within budget, time and to deliver our promise we have given to our customers. People are our key to success so the role will be responsible for a team of highly-skilled and passionate project managers. As we deliver our material handling systems as a team, the Director, Project Management will work with Engineering, Sales, Supplier Relations, Legal, Finance and Service.

The Director, Project Management, will have a high level of autonomy to deliver projects and will be expected to demonstrate a high degree of creativity commensurate with their experience. The role will require the Director, Project Management to demonstrate advanced project and client leadership management skills, comprehensive proficiency in the development of associates and teams, and advanced consultative skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Manages multiple, large complex projects with $100M+ budgets
  • Utilizes a broad understanding of project governance activities and tools in the delivery of projects and management of project risks
  • Defines and executes general processes associated with change controls, approvals, and information exchange involving both internal and external stakeholders and subcontractors
  • Defines workflows, jobs, and reporting relationships of a project team
  • Mitigates scope, schedule, and cost risks both internally and with customers
  • Supports the development of departmental budgets and business plans for functional areas
  • Exhibits superior leadership skills by developing organizational goals and objectives
  • Leverages progressive experience and knowledge to evaluate and compare material handling alternatives and technologies when supporting the design and implementation of solutions
  • Applies a broad understanding of supply chain concepts, processes, and trends in the design and implementation of solutions
  • Leads multiple external and/or internal projects or work streams of mid to large size, scope, budget, and complexity
  • Supports team of Project managers using consulting skills in support of problem resolutions, ensuring client acceptance of agreed deliverables, provides critical support on approach and methods, and helps with developing closed-loop communications for project stakeholders
  • Exemplifies a strong work ethic by consistently practicing strong values such as integrity, dedication, and professionalism
  • Effectively builds strong project teams and understands development needs in self and others
  • Delegates project assignments based on the team’s individual strengths, skill sets, and experience levels
  • Build strong relationships by applying strong interpersonal, communication, and listening skills
  • Represent Fortna management in clients steering meetings during our project lifecycle
  • Leverage broad consulting skills to resolve issues and assure client acceptance to agreed deliverables, educate them on approach and methods, and help assure closed-loop communication strategies are implemented to inform stakeholders.
  • Assist the sales team with preliminary schedules, sales calls, site reviews and installation plans for green/brown field projects and programs of complex scope and size or basic retrofits.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 10+ years of experience, minimum 5 years at Director level or above
  • Project Management Professional (PMP®) certification
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally 50% of the time
  • Ability to perform essential requirements of the position

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Demonstrated advanced knowledge and ability to develop and manage multiple project budgets and perform the level of financial analysis to evaluate a project
  • Supreme level project management skills, demonstrated through requisite knowledge and experience
  • Superior proficiency in the understanding of managing both indirectly and directly across multiple workstreams and projects
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects and teams remotely
  • Leads by example through developing broad project leadership that effectively assigns responsibilities and sets clear expectations while assuring a high level of understanding
  • Distinguished understanding of listening, oral, and written communication competencies
  • Exceptional skills for solving complex problems and developing solutions as well as teaching and developing others
  • Advanced business acumen competencies, demonstrating general understanding and intermediate skills with proven application
  • Highly advanced and demonstrated skills in developing and managing budgets across multiple projects, work-streams, and programs
  • Demonstrated ability to proactively engage with Project Accountants in the management and communication of the budget
  • High-level time management with proven experience delivering projects of increased scope and complexity on time and on budget
  • Excellent presentation development and delivery abilities
  • Advanced client management abilities
  • Highly proficient understanding of PM software, Microsoft Office Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, and SharePoint

The base salary range for this role is $153,300 to $229,700. This base salary range represents the low and high end of the base salary range for this position. Actual base salary offered will vary based on various factors including but not limited to location, level, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and performance.
