Here’s the scoop - Summary

The Director, PMO is accountable for shaping and leading the enterprise Project Management Office at Champion Petfoods.

This position oversees PMO Managers and ensures the successful governance, prioritization, and delivery of the organization’s most critical initiatives. The Director will be responsible for building a high-performing PMO function that enables cross-functional alignment, enterprise-wide visibility, and disciplined execution of strategic priorities.

As a trusted partner to the Executive Leadership Team (ELT), the Director, PMO ensures that projects and programs are not only delivered on time, on budget, and within scope — but also drive measurable business outcomes aligned with Champion’s growth strategy.

What a typical day looks like:

Strategic PMO Leadership

  • Lead and develop the PMO Team to drive consistent, best in class project and portfolio management practices across Champion Global organization.
  • Establish PMO as the “single source of truth” for all CPF Projects, ensuring Governance, standards, and reporting.
  • Partner with the ELT to ensure alignment of projects to Strategic priorities and annual enterprise goals.
  • Oversee enterprise program and portfolio management, ensuring prioritization of resources toward the initiatives that have the highest impact and drive the strategy.
  • Drive adoption of standardized methodologies, templates, and tools to support project delivery excellence.
  • Monitor and report performance of Strategic Initiatives, ensuring delivery against objectives and timelines.
  • Manage accountability and facilitate the Enterprise 5 priority tracker. (ELT Forum)
  • Provide coaching for PMO Managers to strengthen delivery discipline and tools capabilities.
  • Partner with Finance, IT, Supply, R&I, Marketing, and GM’s
  • Oversee the work performance of external service providers ensuring the work completed meets company standards and project specifications.
  • Support S&OP+/ Digital/ RTM projects ensuring integration across functions.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Leadership and Management Teams on major projects including capital expenditures, expansion, and growth opportunities.
  • Measure ROI and effectiveness of PMO- led initiatives and adjust based on learnings.
  • Perform other duties as required.

What are we looking for?

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a similar capacity with demonstrated experience in having led a Program Management Office (PMO).
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in business administration or a related subject preferred.
  • PMP certification preferred.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and influencing skills at ELT level.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess, structure, and optimize organizational processes.
  • Proven people leader with experience managing and coaching PMO Managers and cross functional teams.
  • Demonstrated success in driving adoption of new ways of working, not just deploying process’; skilled at influencing behaviours and shaping culture toward accountability and delivery discipline.
  • Ability to tailor communication to different audiences. (ELT + extended team)
  • Proven leadership skills to guide the PMO office and project teams through all phases of a large scale implementation project.
  • Ability to assess corporate climate, socio-economic factors, trends, and other criteria to determine chances of project success.
  • Intuitive grasp of organizational structure in order to manage cross-departmental and cross-disciplinary resource allocation.
  • Strong knowledge of financial management, technology management, internal controls, and forecasting.
  • Ability to write and edit clear and concise reports, meeting minutes, status documents, update documents, prepare statements of work, and presentations.
  • Proven experience in risk identification, management, and mitigation.
  • Highly effective negotiation, diplomatic, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Flexibility to adjust to shifting priorities and deadlines, reacting to project adjustments and alterations promptly and efficiently.
  • Travel (approximately 20% international travel) to support start up and implementation of programs.

Working Conditions

  • Based in Flatirons office (Louisville, Colorado)
  • At least 3 full days in the office (Hybrid)
  • Contemporary open design office work space.
  • Ability to attend and/or conduct presentations.
  • Working extended days and weekends as necessary.
  • Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals.
  • Travel may be required.

The base pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between the range listed above, however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including but not limited to, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, if eligible, including variable pay, medical and dental benefits, participation in 401k plan, and paid time off benefits.  Eligibility for these additional elements depend on the position offered and the employee’s work schedule (i.e., part-time schedule, store associate).  Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an applicant receives an offer of employment.
