About Zero Homes
Our mission is to rebuild American communities through healthy, affordable homes.

At Zero Homes, we operate on a simple premise: when you make contractors successful, homeowners win. The current home services industry is fragmented, complex, and opaque, which is frustrating for homeowners and exhausting for contractors. We are changing this by building a home upgrade marketplace that enables a simple, central, transparent process for homeowners and contractors to complete projects.

Through our platform we handle design, quoting, procurement, and customer service, allowing our contractor network to focus on what they do best and make them money: delivering projects. For homeowners, this delivers a predictable, high-quality, and transparent experience—transforming home upgrades from a source of anxiety into a seamless experience. Our vision is to create a world where homeowners and contractors in all 50 states can leverage our platform to execute thousands of projects every week within the next 36 months.

We work by a clear set of values:
  • Be a "can kid," not a "can’t kid": We own our outcomes and go to extraordinary lengths to solve problems.
  • Go fast, be clear: Speed is our advantage, and we sweat the details to deliver an extraordinary customer experience.
  • Customer & Contractor Obsessed: We have a deep, personal understanding of the work to be done. We stay curious about our contractors' craft and the stories of our homeowners.
  • Win, as a team: We are building an iconic business that will reinvent the industry, and will do so together.

If you are ready to build a world-class consumer experience that genuinely rebuilds American communities, come build with us.

About the Role & Your Impact

We are looking for a Director of People to elevate our people operations from the scrappy, early days of a startup into a well-oiled machine that keeps our people, office, and talent acquisition engine functioning at their highest levels. You will pull together a number of processes & policies for hiring, onboarding, events and our office to create an incredible and cohesive experience for our team. If done well, you’ll not only enable us to grow quickly to achieve our business ambitions, but also to achieve our goal of being the best and most sought after company in Colorado.

Who You Are
You are a natural connector and bring energy into every room you enter. You love building strong, fun team cultures, meaningful events, and handle the thoughtful details that elevate experiences. Your default is to put structure where there isn’t any, but also know the difference between processes that look good on paper and what actually works in a high velocity organization. You have get s*** done attitude and don’t believe there is a task that is beneath you. Finally, you have the highest standards when it comes to integrity and discretion. You know how to gracefully handle a variety of personalities and situations (good, bad, or otherwise), and build trust with leadership by toeing the line of handling vs. escalating issues to leadership appropriately.

What You'll do

    • Executive Partnership: Act as a direct, trusted advisor to our leadership team on all things people, facilities, recruiting, events, compliance, and enable them to focus on scaling the business.

    • Build structure & take ownership: You’ll take ownership over many shared responsibilities and improve our core people program operations and cadences with an eye toward what can scale, not just what works today.

    • Recruiting Engine: Partner closely with our Lead Recruiter and hiring managers to build a recruiting machine that supports Product, G&A, and Ops roles as we triple in size over the next 12 months.

    • Compensation & Equity: Maintain our compensation and equity bands so we can make expedited, confident offers, and negotiate fairly.

    • Culture & Team Health: Protect and invest in a culture that values meaningful work, cherishes relationships with their teammates, and doesn’t take themselves too seriously.

    • Facilities: You’ll collaborate with our office manager on the consistent need for office improvements, but also may manage a full office build out should we expand or move.

    • Policy & Compliance: Maintain clean, simple HR policies and processes that keep us compliant without slowing us down. Maintain ironclad confidentiality of our human resources data.

What You Bring

    • 5-8+ years in People Operations, HR, or a related function, building - not just running - a people function at a high-growth company.

    • Proven ability to design and implement people programs, policies, and systems from scratch in a fast-moving environment.

    • Comfortable operating as a direct report to a founder or CEO, with the judgment to handle sensitive and confidential matters with the utmost discretion and integrity.

    • Demonstrable experience supporting recruiting, compensation, and workforce planning across diverse functions (technical, sales, and field/ops roles) in a high-growth environment.

    • Passion for and skilled at creating a fun and meaningful work environment, special events, team building opportunities, and positive recognition programs.

    • Comfortable with modern HRIS and ATS platforms, and G-Suite.

    • A great attitude, presence, and a genuine interest in our mission.

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including job-related knowledge, skills and experience. This role also includes meaningful equity compensation so successful candidates can participate in our company's accelerating growth.

Zero Homes is committed to creating an inclusive and accessible experience for all candidates. We encourage you to apply even if you believe that you do not meet all of the above criteria!
