As Director of Payments Operations, you will play a critical leadership role in shaping and scaling Nextech’s financial services portfolio. You will own the strategy, execution, and continuous improvement of core payment processing operations, embedded financing solutions, and new financial product initiatives.
Harnessing deep expertise from vertical SaaS platforms with embedded financial services, you will cultivate a culture of performance, precision, and scalability, driving operational excellence—establishing Payments as a pivotal growth engine for Nextech and ensuring a best-in-class customer experience.

Essential Functions
- Essential Functions: In addition to working in accordance with appropriate conduct and behavioral standards, specific responsibilities of this role include:
- Lead Payments Operations team managing payment processing and embedded financing products.
- Develop scalable, efficient operational processes to enhance practice experience.
- Partner deeply with GTM (Sales and CS) to refine embedded payments value proposition, positioning and long-term pricing strategies.
- Build strong partnership with Product to jointly refine roadmaps utilizing first-hand experience from both front and back-office interactions.
- Mitigate emerging risks, balancing revenue and practice experience with loss prevention and regulatory compliance.
- Collaborate with Legal, Compliance, Product, Marketing, Sales, Engineering, and Finance to optimize performance and accelerate product delivery.
- Build and inspire a high-performing, cross-functional team, fostering collaboration and leadership growth.
- Identify long-term growth strategies for financial services and business solutions.
- Evaluate new market opportunities, develop investment cases, and drive product initiatives.
- Negotiate and manage third-party technology and business partnerships.
- Carry out additional responsibilities as assigned based on business needs
Minimum Requirements
- 8+ years of progressive leadership in fintech, payments, lending, or related SaaS/financial services industries.
- Experience leading operational frontline teams across multiple sub-functions.
- Proven success in business building and cross-functional leadership.
- Expertise in partnership evaluation, commercial negotiations, and ongoing partner management.
- Strong knowledge of credit, fraud, regulatory risk, and loss prevention strategies.
- Excellent communication, analytical, negotiation, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to scale businesses in fast-growth, entrepreneurial settings.
- Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree in business, economics, law, or engineering.
- Deep expertise in healthcare payment processing, including nuances of self-pay vs. insurance-based practices.
- 5+ years in vertical SaaS or platform-based businesses.
- 5+ years in embedded payments or fintech, ideally in healthcare.
- Deep expertise in healthcare payment processing, including nuances of self-pay vs. insurance-based practices.
- Proficiency in Salesforce.com or similar CRM tools.
- Stripe / Adyen experience is also highly beneficial.
