The Director of Operations Innovation will lead initiatives critical to the success of DaVita.

These include:

  • Large-scale operating model changes to drive efficiency of care delivery and improve teammate job satisfaction
  • Process re-engineering for hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis operations
  • Introduction and incubation of disruptive technologies that improve patient clinical outcomes in kidney care
  • Development and operationalization of growth strategies across Kidney Care and DaVita Strategic Business Units

The Director will lead a team of highly motivated individuals with backgrounds ranging from management consulting to process engineering to project management to healthcare operations, and is expected to: (1) identify which work will add the most value to ambiguous problems, (2) effectively lead work streams with dependencies on many different business units, (3) collaborate well throughout the organization, (4) communicate recommendations to senior executives on a regular basis, and (5) drive culture and talent development for your project teams.

This role provides excellent exposure to the DaVita executive level team, as this department is a board-level organizational objective.

Location: Denver, Colorado - onsite, hybrid schedule

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Leverages hypotheses-based approach to identify, validate and quantify opportunities
  • Utilizes process engineering techniques to assess current processes and potential improvements
  • Draws upon continuous improvement tools (Lean, Six-Sigma) to structure and incubate improvement opportunities
  • When appropriate, identifies technology needs to solve business issues and partners with others to source, create/adapt, implement, and launch technology
  • Distills complex business problems into cohesive, impactful stories
  • Presents comfortably and compellingly to senior audiences
  • Successfully manages relationships with senior business leaders and influences diverse group of stakeholders through effective communication and strong interpersonal skills
  • Works closely with teammates in the clinics and develops long-standing relationships with operators and clinicians
  • Allocates team resources to ensure all timelines and deliverables are met
  • Results oriented, moving work forward at a meaningful pace, while building strong culture and teams
  • Develops and mentors teammates
  • Passion to improve the healthcare landscape for our teammate and patients with a constant focus on continuous improvement

  • Up to 50% travel may be required at times; though typical travel is 5-10%

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience leading large-scale business transformation from concept through implementation with tangible impact on operating/financial performance
  • Demonstrated ability to build professional relationships, influence others, and drive meaningful change that ‘sticks’
  • Proficiency mapping teammate led processes, and revamping approach through low-value task elimination, automation, and centralization of work
  • Experience leveraging machine learning or artificial intelligence to solve a key business problem preferred
  • 10+ years of total work experience in progressive roles
  • Undergraduate degree in technical area (e.g. engineering) preferred
  • MBA or graduate degree in a healthcare related field (MD, MPH, MHA) preferred
  • Healthcare experience preferred
  • PROSCI training preferred
  • Six sigma or lean training preferred

Salary/ Wage Range

$121,200.00 - $177,900.00 / year

Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience.
