Job DescriptionTRUEWERK is looking for an experienced marketplace expert to accelerate our growth across key online platforms. Reporting directly to the VP of Ecommerce, you’ll collaborate closely with our marketing and operations teams to profitably expand TRUEWERK’s brand presence and connect with the next generation of trade professionals.
As the Director of Marketplaces, you’ll lead the strategy, execution, and optimization of our business across Amazon, Walmart, and emerging marketplaces. You'll be accountable for driving revenue, profitability, and operational excellence—while partnering with our agency team to ensure flawless execution and campaign performance.
This role is both strategic and hands-on. You’ll guide cross-functional initiatives that scale operations, improve customer experience, and enhance marketplace performance. The ideal candidate is deeply versed in marketplace best practices and thrives on using data to uncover insights and unlock growth.
This is a hybrid role that requires regular time onsite at TRUEWERK’s headquarters in Denver, Colorado. Employees may work remotely when appropriate, based on business needs.
What you'll do:
Marketplace Strategy & Growth
- Own the performance of the marketplace business, managing revenue, profitability, and operational efficiencies that deliver against annual sales and ROAS goals.
- Develop and execute a comprehensive strategy for Amazon, Walmart, and other emerging marketplaces, ensuring alignment with the company’s overall ecommerce vision.
- Define short-term and long-term growth plans by leveraging data, insights, and market trends to deliver against goals.
- Identify new marketplace opportunities and build a roadmap for expansion.
Forecasting, Reporting & Performance Analytics
- Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) across sales, advertising efficiency (ROAS, CPC, CPS), contribution margin, and operational performance.
- Partner with Finance, Performance Marketing, and leadership to develop monthly revenue forecasts across demand, advertising spend, and customer types.
- Develop and implement data-driven reporting frameworks to inform decision-making and executive updates.
Channel Operations & Optimization
- Oversee listing optimization, pricing strategies, and inventory management for both Amazon and Walmart.
- Manage relationships with Amazon and Walmart account managers to stay ahead of platform updates and strategic opportunities.
- Work closely with supply planning and fulfillment teams to optimize inventory planning and ensure best-in-class customer experience.
- Work closely with our existing agency partner to optimize both the media and retail aspects of the business, while overseeing Amazon Advertising (AMS) and Walmart Connect strategies, optimizing campaign structures to improve efficiency and maximize ROI. While also ensuring adherence to marketplace policies.
Cross-Functional & Agency Collaboration
- Partner with marketing, demand planning, operations, and customer service teams to drive an integrated and cohesive marketplace strategy.
- Work collaboratively across departments to ensure seamless execution of marketplace initiatives.
- Connect the dots between TRUEWERK’s in-house creative and our agency’s creative teams to ensure seamless content creation for both Amazon and Walmart that meets Brand guidelines and design system requirements.
- 7–10+ years of ecommerce and marketplace experience with Direct-to-Consumer (DTC) brands
- Proven track record of growing and scaling marketplace businesses, with clear ownership of revenue and profitability
- Deep expertise in one or more of the following platforms: Amazon Seller Central, Amazon Advertising (AMS), Walmart Marketplace, and/or Walmart Connect
- Hands-on experience with Shopify/Shopify Plus and NetSuite or a similar ERP system.
- Strong performance management skills, with a data-driven approach to driving sales, ROAS, and contribution margin
- Demonstrated ability to develop and execute marketplace strategies—including product assortment planning, promotional strategy, and listing optimization
- Experience leading cross-functional collaboration across demand planning, supply chain, marketing, customer service, and operations
- Advanced analytical skills; proficiency with tools such as Excel/Google Sheets, Amazon Seller Central reports, and Walmart Seller Center data
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with experience managing relationships across vendors, marketplace account teams, and digital/retail agency partners
- Experience with third-party logistics (3PL), fulfillment models (FBA, WFS), and inventory forecasting is a plus

Salary Range: $135,000 - $145,000 base salary + bonus
