DIRECTV is seeking a visionary Director of IT Software Engineering to lead our comprehensive enterprise business systems portfolio while driving AI-powered innovation across billing, account/entitlement management, order management, and contract management platforms. This role requires an exceptional leader capable of managing a large-scale hybrid team of development and operations professionals across onshore employees and guiding onshore/offshore vendor resources. The successful candidate will spearhead strategic initiatives for mission-critical platforms while ensuring strict adherence to industry security and compliance standards.

DIRECTV is investing heavily in technology transformation, modernizing our applications, and building independence from shared systems. This role is an important leadership position that will ensure both continuity of service for our existing technology stack and also influence the direction we take in the future. The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience managing hybrid internal and guiding outsource software delivery teams in a virtual environment, and a track record of success in doing so. 

Here’s what you’ll do: 

  • Lead and manage a large organization of development and operations professionals.
  • Establish organizational structure optimized for traditional software engineering with AI support.
  • Foster innovation culture across geographically distributed teams spanning multiple time zones.
  • Implement scalable communication frameworks for large distributed teams.
  • Manage complex vendor relationships and multi-million dollar contracts with SaaS vendors and offshore partners.
  • Oversee end-to-end architecture and AI-enhanced operations of integrated solution across billing and revenue management, account and entitlement management, order management, and customer lifecycle management.
  • Lead system modernization initiatives incorporating cutting-edge AI technologies.
  • Establish enterprise-grade monitoring, performance tracking, and governance frameworks.
  • Manage budget, system capacity planning, and workload optimization at scale.
  • Ensure comprehensive compliance and security measure with industry standards.

What you’ll need to be successful: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field.
  • 5 – 7 years required, 8+ years desired of software engineering experience with 5+ years in senior leadership roles.
  • 5+ years of experience managing 50+ people teams.
  • Proven track record managing enterprise billing, order management, and customer lifecycle management systems.
  • Advanced knowledge of enterprise integration patterns, APIs, and real-time data processing.
  • Demonstrated success managing complex hybrid teams with offshore operations.
  • Experience with vendor management and strategic technology partnerships.
  • Proven track record in organizational transformation.
  • Experience with Agile/SAFe and ITIL methodologies.
  • Exceptional communication skills for explaining complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience in enterprise software or high-growth SaaS companies.
  • Familiarity with generative AI, LLMs, and prompt engineering techniques.
  • AWS certifications including AI/ML specialty certifications (preferred).
  • Background in AI-powered revenue operations, intelligent automation, or predictive analytics (preferred).
  • Experience with enterprise AI platforms and no-code/low-code AI solutions (preferred).
  • Industry certifications (AI/ML certifications, cloud architecture, security) (preferred).

DIRECTV's compensation structure is designed to be market-competitive and fully supports efforts to attract and retain employees. It is the company's policy to offer pay that is competitive with other employers in the local market. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location.

The Base Salary range displayed below reflects the minimum and maximum target salary for each of DIRECTV's 4 (four) US Labor Market Zones. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

  

DIRECTV WAGE ZONES: $154,850 - $281,060 

Low (N1): $154,850 - $232,180 

Mid (N2): $163,000 - $244,400 

High (N3): $179,300 - $268,840 

Top (N4): $187,450 - $281,060
