Job Summary:
The Director of Enterprise Engineering is responsible for leading and managing the enterprise engineering team to design, implement, and maintain scalable, secure, and highly available infrastructure solutions. This role requires a deep understanding of modern infrastructure practices, driving the adoption of Infrastructure as code (IaC), secure DevOps, Policy as Code (PaC), Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), monitoring and alerting, high availability, Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery (BCDR), and Zero Trust security models.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the enterprise engineering team in the design, implementation, and maintenance of infrastructure solutions that meet business requirements and align with industry best practices.
- Develop and enforce policies and procedures for secure DevOps practices, ensuring the integrity and security of the development and deployment processes.
- Implement and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and Policy as Code (PaC) to automate and standardize infrastructure provisioning and management.
- Oversee the adoption and management of Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and Platform as a Service (PaaS) solutions to enhance scalability and flexibility.
- Establish and maintain comprehensive monitoring and alerting systems to ensure the health and performance of infrastructure components.
- Ensure high availability and reliability of infrastructure services through effective design, implementation, and management of redundancy and failover mechanisms.
- Develop and maintain Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery (BCDR) plans to ensure the resilience and recoverability of critical infrastructure services.
- Implement and enforce Zero Trust security models to protect infrastructure and data from internal and external threats.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align infrastructure initiatives with business goals and objectives.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends to continuously improve infrastructure practices and capabilities.
Metrics for Success:
- Uptime and Availability: Achieve and maintain an infrastructure uptime of 99.99% or higher.
- Incident Response Time: Reduce the average incident response time to less than 30 minutes.
- Recovery Time Objective (RTO): Ensure that critical systems have an RTO of less than 4 hours.
- Recovery Point Objective (RPO): Ensure that critical systems have an RPO of less than 1 hour.
- Security Compliance: Achieve and maintain compliance with relevant security standards and frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST).
- Cost Efficiency: Optimize infrastructure costs by achieving a cost reduction of at least 10% year-over-year.
- Employee Satisfaction: Achieve an employee satisfaction score of 85% or higher within the enterprise engineering team.

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Proven experience in leading and managing enterprise engineering teams in a complex, dynamic environment.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to think strategically and execute effectively.
- Strong knowledge of common Devops tooling to support IaC adoption. Examples include Azure Devops for CI/CD, Github for source control, and Open Policy Agent for PaC.
- Familiarity with IaC aligned languages including Bicep, Terraform, and Ansible.
- Excellent foundational experience managing a wide array of cloud solutions covering IaaS, PaaS, containerized and serverless workloads.
- Proven understanding of financial management in dynamic environments. Exposure to Finops principles is a plus.
- Experience with zero trust frameworks and building infrastructure solutions in reference to compliance specifications.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect, Certified Kubernetes Administrator) are a plus.
