Director, Head of Content Marketing

The successful candidate will lead Content Marketing channels within the Performance Marketing & Analytics team in US Card. The role will involve defining the content marketing strategy for our target audiences and overseeing a large scale, well managed content production engine end-to-end. They'll lead a talented team in developing compelling and effective editorial strategies, driving the testing strategy to optimize conversion for our content experiences and working closely with our SEO Business Analyst team and other paid channels to maximize the reach and value from our content investments. They will be responsible for all content produced and the distribution strategy for that content including SEO for owned channels like the Learn & Grow content hub to testing expanded owned and paid channels to further increase reach to consumers in the moments that matter. They will be responsible for core content marketing metrics that contribute to US Card's customer acquisitions growth as well as driving our company mission to empower consumers to achieve confidence in how they spend, borrow, save and plan.
What You'll Do:
- Leading Card Content Marketing Strategy and Multi-Year Vision:
- Oversight of day-to-day Content Marketing editorial strategy and execution including planning for deployment of assets across both owned properties like the Learn & Grow content hub and partner platforms as needed - you are the master architect for cross-channel programming (programming = connecting editorial strategy to shopping pathways to drive growth for card acquisitions)
- Ensure that all content created is (1) consistent with all other content, (2) carries a distinctive POV appropriate for the audience and format, and (3) intentionally either meets or exceeds alternative content options available to the audience
- Manage and lead our SEO agency and other agency partners as needed in audience and keyword research, strategic planning, creative strategy and execution and performance analysis (in partnership with the Search Business Analyst team)
- Monitor / report progress against KPIs to deeply understand content performance and enable a productive feedback loop that generates new content ideas and refinements (and adjustments to the strategy for a given audience)
- Co-lead development of our destination state measurement and analytics infrastructure along with the Search Analytics team
- Identify opportunities for audience growth on new channels (owned/paid), new formats, new audience personas, etc.
- Consistently stay ahead of emerging trends in Content Marketing and the channels supported by the team
- Define the destination state for Content Marketing over the next 3 years and lead the team in developing and maintaining a roadmap to deliver short and long term results
- Running and scaling our well-managed content creation and publishing pipeline:
- Manage a high volume, scalable content production capability that is integrated with our marketing technology stack, allowing for consumer experiences in any channel to be dynamic, personalized, and responsive to shopping journey behaviors
- Refine and lead process, governance, and operational practices for all content production - continue to raise the bar on being well managed and audit ready
- Determine the right production model and internal/external partners for producing content at scale across multiple formats
- Streamline and automate processes to enable the team to more quickly and easily deliver content in market while staying well managed
- Optimize the Content Hub Site Experience for consumer engagement and business value:
- Build the onsite testing strategy for improving conversion of card prospects towards value driving actions such as card applications
- Define the roadmap for new components, landing page experiences and measurement capabilities needed for the Learn & Grow content hub in support of Card performance marketing objectives
- Lead development and testing of new capabilities such as scaled creative testing through Generative AI and personalization to provide the most relevant experience for visitors and the highest value outcomes for our business
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or military experience
- At least 5 years of experience in planning, executing, and analyzing marketing programs
- At least 5 years of experience in leading cross-functional teams
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's of Business Administration
- 3+ years of experience in Content Marketing strategy and production
- 5+ years of experience working with SEO, SEM, Social, and Web analytics and testing
- 2+ years working in Financial Services marketing
- 4+ years of experience working in an Agile team environment

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
McLean, VA: $200,100 - $228,400 for Director, Marketing
Richmond, VA: $181,800 - $207,500 for Director, Marketing
Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.
This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
