Job Summary
Under minimal supervision, the Finance Director provides the financial and operational leadership, management, and vision necessary to ensure the company has the proper financial and operational controls, administrative and reporting procedures, people and systems in place to effectively grow the organization and while ensuring financial strength and operational efficiency. Oversee finance, grants, personnel management, financial/productivity performance metrics and revenue cycle. Prepares and validates all business expansion initiatives. Prepares and maintains financial reports relating to operations, including alternative sources of revenues such as grants and grants administration and coordinating such efforts with Denver Health Finance Department. Applies budget policies and procedures to review budget requests, prepares recommendations, develops expansion/growth models and strategies, monitors department financial and operating performance, and assists in the analysis of department operations and work programs to improve service delivery and cost efficiency. This position will provide useful insight to help improve decision-making and strategy execution.
Essential Functions:

  • Benchmarking: Develop and maintain benchmarking processes to compare organizational performance against industry standards.
  • Analysis: Conduct detailed analysis of productivity metrics and identify areas for improvement.
  • Strategy Development: Formulate and implement strategies to enhance productivity and operational efficiency.
  • Reporting: Prepare and present comprehensive reports on productivity and benchmarking findings to senior management.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with various departments to ensure alignment of productivity goals and initiatives.
  • Training: Develop and deliver training programs to educate staff on productivity improvement techniques.
  • Innovation: Identify and implement innovative solutions to improve productivity and benchmarking processes.

Other Essential Functions:

  • Provide top-level financial and operational strategic guidance to management team, department managers and staff.
  • Collaborates with the Denver Health Finance office to develop and integrate the individual unit plans and strategies into overall organizational division plans to achieve maximum division financial output and contribution to the corporate strategy. Will support development of business plans for expansions for various initiatives.
  • Makes short and long range financial projections (e.g. Volume, financial statements, economic ….) and uses these projections to help plan future financial modeling and reporting.
  • Identifies key factors affecting the financial performance of the organization. Creates and facilitates leadership discussion on relevant performance management dashboards that support operational (call center), clinical, and financial goals across all necessary / assigned business units.
  • Assess operational productivity and financial outcome through intervention as related to technical processes and people processes. Vet all personnel and non-personnel expense requests, including but not limited to program expansions. Report quality issues, non-performance issues, corporate compliance matters, and proactively manage accounting and finance reporting functions horizontally across the organization.
  • Review monthly financial and productivity reports on each division’s activities requiring comprehension of all phases of the departments. Provide analysis of operating AU revenue and expense details as part of monthly budget review and annual budget process.
  • Ensures two way communications between management staff and employees. Develops communication plan regarding projects, priorities, timetables and budgets as required.

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance or a related field. Required

Work Experience:

  • 10+ years of general business and financial management experience Required and
  • 3 - 5 years at a management level role Required and
  • Healthcare experience preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Business acumen necessary to make critical assessments
  • Communication skills to interact effectively with Denver Health's current service/client base, prospective customers, and all levels of Denver Health Management
  • Ability to perform financial analyses including forecasting, assisting in exploring strategic options, and developing creative solutions to complex business issues
  • Ability to interpret and analyze financial and statistical information
  • Ability to systematically gather information from a variety of sources, analyze information, identify implications of data, draw appropriate conclusions, generate viable alternative solutions to a question or problem, and evaluate the consequences of choosing each alternative
  • Ability to direct profit and loss, revenue generation, and expenditure control to optimize the utilization of resources at minimum cost
  • Knowledge of budgeting principles and practices sufficient to analyze ongoing and proposed work programs and understanding their impact on the budget
  • Contract management operations; ability to assist with basic contract analysis to understand deliverables.
  • Knowledge of all areas of, invoicing and billing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, supply chain operations, and contract management operations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, specially Microsoft Excel
