Orbit Fab's mission is to create the foundational infrastructure that will fuel a bustling in-space economy, capable of sustaining permanent jobs in space. Today, satellites cannot be refueled, which severely constrains their mobility and inhibits the development of economic activities in space.

Orbit Fab breaks the single-use paradigm, pioneering our Gas Stations in Space™ refueling infrastructure and RAFTI™ technology to deliver propellant in space, enabling lower-cost satellite construction, increased maneuverability, precise control, and extended lifespans. The possibilities are unprecedented, opening the doors to unimagined operational strategies and business models.

Since our establishment in 2018, we have already achieved the successful launch of three tankers to space. With offices in both the US and UK, we are working in close collaboration with partners and customers across the space industry. Orbit Fab is rapidly ramping up capabilities and requires exceptional talent to tackle important challenges. Our roles offer wide ranging opportunities to have a demonstrable impact and enable a bustling space economy.

We are seeking a strategic financial leader to architect the next phase of our growth. Reporting to and collaborating heavily with our COO, as the Senior Director of Finance, you will be a key partner to the executive team, responsible for building and leading a best-in-class finance function. You will steer the company's financial health and long-term planning, providing the analytical rigor necessary to scale our business. This role demands a blend of sophisticated financial expertise and a deep operational understanding.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Financial Leadership: Act as a key advisor to the COO, CEO and executive team on strategic initiatives, new business models, and investment opportunities. Develop and monitor company-wide metrics in partnership with cross-functional leaders to drive performance.
  • Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A): Lead all aspects of financial forecasting, including annual budgeting, quarterly updates, and long-range planning. Provide data-driven insights on pricing, profitability, and scenario analysis to guide decision-making.
  • Reporting: Manage the regular cadence of financial reporting to other members of senior management and the board that provide the greatest transparency into the results of the business
  • Fundraising Support: Support the COO, CEO and executive team in fundraising activities.
  • Prepare for the Future: Ensure the company keeps a view to the future with regard to future fundraising rounds and eventual IPO. Chart a path to best-in-class financial management. Develop the tools and reports that highlight the value creation at Orbit Fab.
  • Operational Partnership: Collaborate closely with the Sales team to manage customer acquisition budgets and optimize efficiency. Partner with Supply Chain to develop monthly purchasing plans and manage inventory from a financial perspective.
  • Financial Operations & Control: Oversee cash flow management and working capital optimization. Manage the monthly close process with our external accounting partners, ensuring accuracy and GAAP compliance. Establish scalable financial systems and controls to support our rapid expansion.

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of progressive finance experience, with a background in investment banking, private equity, or a senior finance role at a high-growth company.
  • Background in deep tech or manufacturing. Aerospace and Defense is a plus.
  • Demonstrated success scaling a manufacturing or technology company.
  • Deep expertise in financial modeling, FP&A, and strategic finance.
  • Proven ability to build, manage, and mentor a high-performing finance team and effectively work with external service providers.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information clearly to an executive audience.
  • Proficiency with modern financial software/ERPs.

The estimated salary range for this position is $165,000-185,000
