Opportunity Overview:

You will lead high-caliber full-stack software engineering teams focused on building out our AI-enabled clinical intelligence SaaS. You’ll lead teams through the product lifecycle, from inception to design, build, and delivery.  Product engineering teams at Cohere work with a high degree of autonomy to solve complex problems across the business, partnering closely with product and design.

What you’ll do:

  • Recruit and build high-caliber engineering teams
  • Foster a culture where teams feel stimulated by their work and passionate about their role
  • Leadership and Management:
    • Lead and manage engineering teams, including recruitment, mentorship, and performance evaluation.
    • Foster a collaborative and innovative culture within the engineering department.
    • Develop and implement strategic plans for the engineering department in alignment with the company’s goals.
  • Strategic Planning:
    • Contribute to the company’s overall strategy and business planning.
    • Identify opportunities for technological advancements and innovation.
    • Develop long-term plans for technology development and deployment.
  • Technical Expertise:
    • Provide technical guidance and support to engineering teams.
    • Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies.
    • Ensure the implementation of best practices and standards in software development and engineering processes.
  • Product Development:
    • Work closely with product management to define product requirements and specifications.
    • Oversee the design, development, and deployment of products and features.
    • Ensure the scalability, security, and performance of products.
  • Compliance and Security:
    • Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and company policies.
    • Implement and maintain robust security protocols to protect company data and intellectual property.

What you’ll need:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field or equivalent experience
  • 8+ years of experience managing software engineering teams in a fast-paced, agile environment
  • 5+ years of experience in building B2B, multi-tenant SaaS products
  • Proven track record of delivering high-quality software on time and within budget
  • Previous experience as a product-oriented team lead with expertise in one or more programming languages and frameworks, preferably on the JVM
  • Prior experience in healthcare or life sciences
  • Prior experience in B2B enterprise sales environment

The salary range for this position is $200,000 to $225,000 annually; as part of a total benefits package which includes health insurance, 401k and bonus. In accordance with state applicable laws, Cohere is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. Individual pay decisions are ultimately based on a number of factors, including but not limited to qualifications for the role, experience level, skillset, and internal alignment.
