The Games Player Experience team is focused on enabling our members to find and engage with exciting new Interactive and Game experiences on Netflix. The team has a broad scope from the gaming canvases on TV and Mobile, our new kids experience, the Netflix Games Controller, to our new on-device gaming platform. We are seeking a Director of Engineering to bring together several teams of high-performing engineers to deliver best-in-class experiences for both players and game developers alike. In this position, you will play a critical role in shaping the future of games at Netflix.
Who You AreA highly technical, hands-on engineering leader.
Experienced across a variety of technologies with a focus on Javascript, React, and Swift or Kotlin.
An opinionated product thinker with a deep understanding of the games industry, gaming controllers, and/or cloud gaming.
Great at looking at the big picture and rapidly getting to the root of the problem, whether it is technical, organizational, or interpersonal.
Quick to adapt to new information and enjoy working in fast-paced and highly ambiguous environments.
An experienced leader who prioritizes creating an inclusive and psychologically safe work environment.
An engineering leader who can work with senior leadership to develop a long-term technical strategy and map business goals to appropriate design investments.
Lead an organization of engineers and engineering managers to experiment and innovate in the main Netflix App and Netflix Game Controller.
Drive the overall engineering strategy for Player Experiences.
Empower, challenge, and coach team members to grow their impact as individual technical leaders by providing them with context and continuous feedback.
Collaborate, build alignment, and develop strong relationships with cross-functional partners across business areas, leveraging exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
Foster an inclusive team culture that enables team members of all backgrounds to succeed and thrive.
Exemplify the Netflix culture by understanding, advocating for, and demonstrating its values.
Familiar with working in game engines, such as Unreal Engine, Unity3D, and Defold.
Experience working with cloud gaming platforms and WebRTC technologies.
Engage and contribute to open source communities.
Comfortable working across multiple gaming platforms, including web, mobile, and console. Bonus points if you have experience working with custom hardware experiences.
Are self-driven and highly motivated to deliver critical-tiered solutions.
Strong understanding of lightweight production/team process
