At SNHU, you'll have the option to work remotely in the following states: Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, Wisconsin and Wyoming.

We ask that our remote employees have access to a reliable internet connection and a dedicated, properly equipped workspace that is free of distractions. Employees must reside in, and work from, one of the above approved states.

The opportunity

The Director of Digital Accessibility serves as SNHU's lead authority on digital accessibility and a strategic driver of the University's digital inclusion efforts—someone who understands how to translate accessibility standards into university strategy, procurement operations, service delivery, and practical guidance for SNHU teams. Reporting to the SVP and Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer, you will oversee a multidisciplinary team and partner with the Director of ADA Compliance/ADA Coordinator, Director of Employee Accommodations, the Online Accessibility Center (OAC), and the Campus Accessibility Center (CAC).

You will work across decentralized functions to embed digital accessibility proactively, successfully spanning organizational boundaries, facilitating complex problems and decision making, and championing disability inclusion. You will provide expert guidance on creating accessible digital environments, education, and ensure current practice meets operational standards. The Director of Digital Accessibility is a strategic, visionary leader who works to develop the infrastructure needed to evaluate, enhance, and sustain accessible digital experiences for people with disabilities, ultimately extending digital access to all users. #LI-Remote

What you'll do:

  • Develop, adopt, and execute an enterprise-wide digital accessibility plan that is aligned with WCAG standards.
  • Provide institutional guidance, support, and education on best practices and current trends in the digital accessibility space.
  • Provide vision, mentorship, and direction to the Digital Accessibility Review Team and the Assistive Technology Team
  • Lead the Digital Accessibility Coordinators Working Group, a cross-functional body made up of representatives of SNHU who have been appointed as Digital Accessibility Coordinators. Digital Accessibility Coordinators act as liaisons and departmental experts who support their teams and inform the Director about growing issues in their areas so that appropriate stakeholders can address them.
  • Ensure current levels of digital access meet adopted operational standards, through partnership across SNHU
  • Establish communication channels with a centralized reporting matrix, track gaps, pain points, and overlap.
  • Oversee the Accessible Digital Review process including prioritization of reviews and recommendations for all aspects of SNHU. Continuously refine the structured review process for vendor-provided documentation, accessibility audits, and, when necessary, manual accessibility testing
  • Oversee and continuously refine the Assistive Technology process and strengthen partnerships with departments to ensure equitable access.
  • Partner with departments to ensure that internal employee systems, hiring portals, and workplace technologies (SNHU ecosystems) meet WCAG standards.
  • Establish internal policies for digital audits, vendor VPAT (Voluntary Product Accessibility Template) reviews, and remediation tracking in collaboration with the Director of ADA Compliance.
  • Author white papers, internal briefings, and formal reports for Senior Leadership to communicate the ROI of digital accessibility, regulatory risks, and the organization's progress toward inclusion benchmarks.
  • Drive organizational awareness of WCAG standards through workshops and training sessions for developers, content creators, and executives.
  • A collaborative and growth mindset, attendance, punctuality, and reliability are essential functions of this role
  • Other responsibilities as assigned. Job responsibilities can change at any time, with or without notice.

What we're looking for:

  • 7+ years of experience in digital accessibility, inclusive design, and/or the development and management of accessible digital products and services.
  • 3+ years of experience leading a team within a matrixed organization
  • Bachelor's degree(s) in Higher Education, Disability Services, Human Computer Interaction or related field.
  • Knowledge of current WCAG guidelines
  • Experience creating consensus among stakeholders across various departments (Legal, IT, HR, Marketing) to achieve accessibility goals.
  • Experience translating technical accessibility requirements into business-focused impact statements for leadership.
  • Experience presenting complex technical and regulatory information to C-suite or Executive-level stakeholders in a clear, plain language, and persuasive manner.
  • Knowledge of universal/accessible design
  • Understanding of the disability community

We believe real innovation comes from inclusion - where different experiences, perspectives and talents are celebrated. So if you're wondering whether SNHU is right for you, take the leap and apply. You might be just the person we're looking for.
