About Democratic National Committee

We’re hiring! Are you fired up to elect Democrats up and down the ticket?

The Opportunity:

The Democratic National Committee’s Tech Team is seeking a leader to oversee the DNC’s data and analytics departments and contribute to the strategic vision of the DNC's mission. This executive-level role will manage managers and cross-functional teams, ensuring the delivery of high-quality data products and actionable strategic insights that advance the DNC and the entire Democratic ecosystem.

In this role, you will be a strategic and organizational leader. You will be responsible for defining the vision, managing the people, and delivering the outcomes for the DNC's data strategy. You will partner closely with other Tech Team Directors, Product, and Engineering leads to determine the next generation of DNC Tech offerings and how we advance our mission of building power for Democrats year over year. From partnering with programs to improve campaign efficiency or building data products to enable analysis for campaigns around the country, you will play a key role in improving strategy and operations for the DNC and the Democratic ecosystem at large.

Responsibilities:

We’re looking for someone who is as passionate about data-informed strategy and organizational scale as much as flipping states blue. We’re a tight-knit team tackling complex challenges across varied stakeholders and believe in collaborative problem-solving. If you’re excited by the thought of spending your days translating the needs of the DNC into a comprehensive data strategy, building and coaching high-performing teams, and influencing outcomes through data leadership, you’ll thrive here.

Your leadership responsibilities will span:

  • Strategic Oversight: You will provide high-level oversight for the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of the DNC’s core analytical and data infrastructure outputs. These products help campaigns across the country make better decisions and better understand their constituents, measure their initiatives, and expand their impact.
  • People, Management, and Culture: You will manage the entire data department, which includes managing managers across Analytics, Data Science, and Analytics Engineering. You will be the champion for people development, coaching, hiring, onboarding, and performance management across the entire department. As a Director on the Tech team, we will look to you to advance a healthy, inclusive, and user-centric team culture while ensuring clear structure, accountability, and growth opportunities for all roles.
  • Stakeholder Management: You will own key relationships, working with stakeholders internal (other Tech Team Leads, DNC department heads) and external (sister committees, vendors) to ensure strategic alignment. This includes relationship building, contract negotiation, and maintenance to ensure the DNC has the best data resources and partnerships to advance our mission.
About the Team:

This is high-impact, mission-centered work: ideal for someone who’s energized by progressive tech and wants to build systems that make a difference.

We’re a remote-first team (since 2017) that values clarity over complexity, curiosity over ego, and sustainability over burnout. We believe good ideas can come from anywhere, that accountability and empathy can coexist, and that work should feel meaningful without consuming your whole life. Our team is unafraid to chart a path forward, even in the face of ambiguity.

In this role, you’ll be the Director of Data and Analytics and report to the DNC's Chief Technology Officer (CTO). You will manage a team of Managers and Leads across the data disciplines and be a key member of the Tech Team's leadership group.

Qualifications:

We don’t need candidates to check every box on this list. Think of these qualifications as a guide rather than a strict set of requirements. If you’re excited about the role and feel like you can thrive on our team, we want you to apply!

  • You have significant experience managing multiple technical contributors across a variety of levels, including technical mentorship, professional coaching and culture building.
  • You have experience working with/for major Democratic organizations including committees, campaigns, state parties or aligned entities.
  • You have a proven track record of successfully setting a strategic vision and achieving measurable outcomes through data products and services.
  • You have experience in fast-paced, dynamic environments including the adoption of emerging and new technologies.
  • You have strong experience with stakeholder management, including relationship building and strategic alignment.
  • You are passionate about people development, including coaching, performance management, and building inclusive, high-performing team cultures.
  • You are an expert SQL user, comfortable wrangling big data sets to extract meaning.
  • You have a broad understanding of modern data ecosystems (e.g., cloud environments like GCP/BigQuery, data warehousing, BI tools, and data science methodologies) sufficient to oversee multiple technical leads.
  • You have a deep understanding of how data can inform strategic program planning and are highly focused on translating business needs into data strategy.
  • You have exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with experience presenting complex technical and strategic plans to executive leadership and non-technical audiences.
  • Have 5+ years in leadership and managing roles.

You may also:

  • Have a strong understanding or experience with ETL pipelines and data transformation tools like dbt.
  • Have led transitions around emerging machine learning and generative AI-driven approaches.
  • Code comfortably in Python, R or another programming language, or can quickly learn new languages or tools to drive impact.
  • Have experience in non-profit fundraising and/or modern marketing stacks and measurement.
  • Have experience working with political data like state voter files, election results, or data on voter, volunteer, or donor engagement and/or the DNC’s data and analytics tools.
  • Have experience working with vendors including relationship management, technical validation and budgetary oversight.

This is a remote position that can be based anywhere in the United States.
