About the role

The Director of CRO drives high-impact commerce by translating data into actionable insights and hypotheses. This role is crucial for designing, testing, and optimizing client experiences within the Shopify ecosystem. We are looking for a candidate with a strong Conversion Rate and UX Optimization mindset who excels at experimentation, turning learnings into strategic action, and collaborating seamlessly with cross-functional teams (UX/UI, Design, Development, and Account Management) to deliver measurable business outcomes for our DTC and omnichannel brands.


What you'll do

Client Strategy & Leadership


  • Lead strategic engagements for DTC ecommerce brands, including discovery, CRO programs, ongoing retainers, and ad hoc consulting initiatives
  • Serve as a trusted strategy partner to clients, providing expertise across site experience, merchandising, acquisition & retention, analytics, US and digital product roadmaps
  • Partner with clients to develop and execute data-driven strategies aligned with both short- and long-term business objectives


CRO, UX & Experimentation

  • Identify conversion optimization opportunities across the full customer funnel, from landing pages and PDPs to checkout and post-purchase experiences
  • Develop data-backed hypotheses and testing roadmaps in partnership with UX, Design and Development.
  • Plan, execute and analyze A/B tests and experiments, translating learnings into actionable insights and prioritized recommendations
  • Support continuous optimization through iterative testing and performance monitoring


Research, Analytics & Insights

  • Conduct strategic analysis using a mix of qualitative and quantitative methodologies, including:
    • User testing, surveys and interviews
    • Persona development and journey mapping
    • Quantitative data analysis and funnel analysis
    • Competitive and heuristic audits
    • ROI forecasting, revenue growth modeling, and CLV analysis
  • Synthesize complex data into clear, compelling narratives and recommendations that empower clients to make informed decisions


Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate closely with UX, Design and Technical Delivery teams to ensure continuity from strategy through execution across:
    • New site builds and migrations
    • Redesigns and feature launches
    • Ongoing site optimization and maintenance
  • Contribute to internal best practices, frameworks, and thought leadership related to CRO, UX, and eCommerce strategy.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Analytics, UX, Psychology, or a related field (Master’s degree a plus or equivalent professional experience)
  • Proven experience leading CRO or digital strategy initiatives, including mentoring team members, guiding cross-functional teams, and owning client strategy from discovery through execution
  • Strong experience in eCommerce strategy, with a deep understanding of DTC business models and on-site conversion dynamics
  • Hands-on experience with CRO principles, experimentation frameworks, and hypothesis-driven optimization
  • Advanced proficiency in eCommerce analytics, with the ability to translate data into clear insights and prioritized actions.
  • Hands-on experience with A/B testing and experimentation tools such as Intelligems, VWO, Optimizely, Shoplift, Visually, or similar
  • Shopify platform experience
  • Experience partnering with UX, Design and Development teams to bring insights and experiments to life.
  • Experience conducting UX analysis, usability testing, and heuristics evaluations.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, comfortable engaging both client stakeholders and internal teams
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple client engagements in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficient with Google Analytics (GA4)


Preferred:

  • Experience with BigQuery, SQL and/or Python
  • Prior agency experience supporting multiple brands and workstreams
