THE HIGH LEVEL

Our Director of Content Strategy will be empowered to lead the entire content marketing strategy for the organization—driving demand and category leadership across Federal, SLED, and commercial markets. This role will make a measurable impact on revenue and brand by developing content that serves as the catalyst for our demand generation campaigns, executive thought leadership, and corporate communications.

Reporting to the VP & Chief Marketing Officer, you will set direction, establish standards, and oversee execution across our content ecosystem—from strategy and messaging to performance, optimization, and governance.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE?

  • Content Strategy Leadership: Own content strategy and editorial approach, including SEO/AI search, topic selection and story architecture, and content governance to build sustained visibility and authority.
  • Content Creation & Editorial Excellence: Write, edit, and elevate content across formats (web, campaigns, social, email, enablement, executive communications), ensuring clarity, quality, consistency, and audience relevance.
  • Digital Property Ownership: Oversee content experiences across Iron Bow’s digital properties, including the website, social channels, and key ranking/third-party sites, ensuring a cohesive presence.
  • Demand Generation Enablement: Partner with Field Marketing and Design to turn strategy into campaign-ready content.
  • Performance & Revenue Contribution: Establish and track KPIs that connect content to engagement, pipeline influence, and marketing’s contribution to revenue, using data to prioritize what works and sunset what doesn’t.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Sales, CTO, Alliances, and SMEs to translate complex technical and mission outcomes into compelling stories that improve customer confidence.
  • Internal & External Communications: Support the CMO (and HR partners, as needed) with internal and external communications strategy and execution that strengthens culture, alignment, and reputation.
  • Vendor & Partner Management: Manage external writers, agencies, and specialized content partners as needed, ensuring quality, timelines, and ROI.
  • Project Leadership: Oversees multiple projects and helps connect alignment and connections across marketing, sales, alliances and other teams to support coordinated high-performing go-to-market approach
  • Budget & Resource Management: Own the content strategy budget and resourcing plan, prioritizing content investments across the enterprise.

YOUR VALUE PROP FOR OUR TEAM

  • 12+ years of experience in content marketing within technology, agency, or media organizations.
  • Exceptional writing and communication skills with the ability to translate complex topics into clear, plain-language content tailored to the audience.
  • Proven SEO and content marketing expertise, ideally within the gov tech or public sector technology market.
  • Strong collaborative mindset with high emotional intelligence and the ability to work effectively across teams and functions.
  • Self-starter with strong problem-solving skills and a sense of urgency in driving work forward.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable presenting ideas, insights, and performance metrics to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Skilled at navigating complex organizations and building strong relationships with internal and external partners.
  • Passion for storytelling through content, with a commitment to quality, impact, and continuous improvement.
  • Values-driven professional who works hard, leads with kindness, and contributes positively to team culture.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: This position prefers candidates based in the National Capital Region and requires 10% travel.

WHY YOU’LL LOVE IT!

  • Mission with meaning: Your work will directly support outcomes that matter – modernization, resilience, security, and the missions our customers serve.
  • High visibility and high trust: You’ll report to the CMO and partner closely with executive leaders and SMEs to shape Iron Bow’s voice in the market.
  • A platform to build: You’ll have the opportunity to define standards, create an editorial engine, and evolve Iron Bow’s content maturity and performance.
  • Real impact, measurable outcomes: Content here isn’t “nice to have”—you’ll connect strategy to pipeline influence, reputation, and customer confidence.
  • Cross-functional collaboration: Work with smart, mission-oriented teams across Sales, Alliances, and Technology who value clear storytelling and practical outcomes.
  • Room to innovate: This role rewards experimentation, strong POV, and continuous improvement.
  • People-first culture: We work hard, lead with kindness, and take care of each other. It’s not a tagline, it’s how we operate.
