Role Overview

The Director, Compliance is responsible for designing, implementing, and enforcing Compass Surgical Partners’ enterprise compliance program across all managed ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs), joint ventures, and corporate functions.

This is a hands-on, operational leadership role—not a purely advisory position. The Director, Compliance builds and owns a scalable compliance infrastructure that reduces regulatory risk, supports growth, withstands diligence, and protects enterprise value for physician, health system, and private equity stakeholders. Reporting into the CLO/CAO ensures compliance is embedded as a core governance and risk-management function, tightly aligned with legal oversight, investigations, transactions, and board accountability.

What You’ll Do

Build and Own the Enterprise Compliance Program

  • Design, implement, and maintain Compass’s enterprise compliance program in alignment with OIG guidance and healthcare best practices

  • Own compliance policies, standards, and procedures across ASC operations, MSO activities, joint ventures, and managed entities

  • Ensure the compliance program is practical, enforceable, auditable, and scalable

Oversee Regulatory Compliance (ASC-Focused)

  • Oversee compliance with applicable federal and state healthcare regulations, including fraud and abuse laws (AKS, Stark considerations as applicable to ASCs), HIPAA/HITECH, CMS Conditions for Coverage, and state licensure and accreditation requirements

  • Partner closely with Legal to interpret regulatory requirements and translate them into clear operational controls

Lead Risk Assessments, Audits, and Monitoring

  • Conduct periodic enterprise-wide and ASC-level compliance risk assessments

  • Design and execute monitoring activities, internal audits, and corrective action plans

  • Track findings through remediation and escalate systemic risks to leadership as needed

Manage Investigations and Issue Resolution

  • Own the compliance hotline and reporting mechanisms, including intake, triage, and investigation of concerns

  • Conduct or oversee investigations in partnership with Legal and People Operations

  • Ensure investigations are timely, well-documented, and defensible

  • Recommend corrective actions and disciplinary measures where appropriate

Develop Policies, Training, and Education

  • Maintain the Code of Conduct and core enterprise and ASC-specific compliance policies

  • Design and deploy compliance training programs, including new hire onboarding, annual training, and role-based education for administrators and leaders

  • Track training completion, effectiveness, and engagement

Support Growth, Integrations, and Transactions

  • Support compliance diligence and integration for acquisitions, de novo ASCs, and joint ventures

  • Ensure newly acquired entities are rapidly aligned to Compass compliance standards, training, and reporting mechanisms

  • Partner with Legal and Corporate Development to identify and mitigate compliance risks early in the transaction lifecycle

Serve as a Trusted, Independent Compliance Resource

  • Coordinate compliance responses to government audits and inquiries in partnership with Legal

  • Serve as a resource to ASC leadership while maintaining independence from Operations

  • Reinforce a strong culture of compliance, accountability, and non-retaliation across the organization

What You’ll Bring
  • 8–12+ years of healthcare compliance experience, ideally within ambulatory surgery centers, physician services, or multi-state healthcare organizations

  • Strong working knowledge of federal and state healthcare regulatory frameworks applicable to ASCs

  • Experience building, operating, and scaling enterprise compliance programs

  • Demonstrated experience leading investigations, audits, and remediation efforts

  • Ability to operate effectively in a PE-backed, high-growth environment

  • Strong judgment, executive presence, and ability to balance approachability with authority

  • Proven ability to partner cross-functionally while maintaining independence and integrity
