About the Role
The Director, Compensation Consulting and Deployment is a key member of the Total Rewards Leadership Team, responsible for leading all client-facing compensation consulting and program deployment. This role serves as the primary interface between the business, HR, and Total Rewards for all compensation-related matters specific to assigned client groups. This leader will ensure compensation programs are aligned with business strategies, competitive in the market, and effectively deployed within client organizations.
Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for compensation-related matters
  • Lead a team of compensation professionals delivering strategic consulting support to HR Business Partners and business leaders for assigned client groups
  • Create compensation strategies tailored to the needs of client groups, including (but not limited to) bespoke incentive plans, retention strategies, and market adjustments, M&A bridges
  • Partner with HR and business leaders on complex compensation matters, such as technical offers, reorganizations, etc
  • Ensure consistent and effective deployment of compensation programs aligned with GM's Total Rewards philosophy
  • Monitor market trends and regulatory changes providing feedback to enterprise design team to ensure practices and programs competitive and compliant
  • Provide thought leadership and subject matter expertise on compensation strategy, analytics, and governance for client-specific needs
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Finance, or related field preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in compensation, including leadership of client-facing teams
  • Deep knowledge of compensation principles, practices, and regulatory requirements
  • Proven ability to influence and collaborate with senior leaders across a complex, matrixed organization.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience with compensation modeling and market analysis.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Public company experience required.
  • Experience in global compensation practices and program deployment preferred.
