The Communications Director leads messaging and media strategies, develops content, manages media relationships, and oversees crisis communication for Live Action's pro-life initiatives.

Live Action’s Strategic Communications Program works to shift the national media narrative on abortion, influence public perception, and expose the corruption of the abortion industry. This program ensures that Live Action’s message is bold, persuasive, and effective across all platforms.
Role OverviewThe Communications Director is responsible for overseeing Live Action’s messaging and media strategy, crafting compelling content, and ensuring alignment across all external communications. This role requires a deep understanding of media, storytelling, and strategic messaging to advance the pro-life cause and reach diverse audiences.
Key Responsibilities- Media Strategy & Messaging
- Work closely with the Vice President of Communications to develop and execute high-level messaging strategies.
- Own and execute earned media strategy, including proactive pitching to podcasts, television programs, and print/digital news outlets to secure impactful coverage and elevate organizational visibility.
- Craft press releases, op-eds, speeches, and other key communications.
- Support Live Action’s spokesperson and leadership with media appearances and talking points.
- Manage relationships with key media contacts and journalists to amplify Live Action’s message.
- Content Development & Oversight
- Oversee the production of high-impact written and visual content, including news stories, investigative reports, and video scripts.
- Provide strategic guidance for Live Action News, social media, and other digital platforms.
- Identify cultural and political trends to proactively shape the media narrative.
- Coalition & Public Relations
- Build and maintain relationships with media outlets, influencers, and thought leaders in the pro-life movement.
- Represent Live Action at events, conferences, and media engagements as needed.
- Crisis Communications
- Develop and implement rapid response strategies for breaking news and crisis situations.
- Monitor media coverage and provide real-time recommendations for engagement.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in media relations, journalism, public relations, or communications strategy.
- Strong writing and editing skills with experience crafting persuasive narratives.
- Deep understanding of media ecosystems, including traditional and digital platforms.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience in issue advocacy, political messaging, or nonprofit communications preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Availability for occasional travel, night, and weekend work as needed.
- Maintains strong relationships with pro-life media allies and thought leaders.
- Continually seeks professional development and thought leadership in the pro-life movement.
