This is a pivotal role for a strategic leader who is hands on and can shape our external narrative, build compelling thought leadership, and ensure our message is consistently impactful.

You'll be the voice of Techstars, responsible for crafting and executing a communications strategy that highlights our global impact, celebrates our founders, and reinforces our position as a leader in venture capital and accelerators. You will also manage a small team focused on events and content.

Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Develop and execute Techstars communication strategy by defining, evolving, and writing our company-wide messaging, positioning, and global communications strategy.
  • Find and develop stories of our impact and innovation by writing and editing high-impact content, including thought leadership articles, press releases, blog posts, company statements, and executive briefing documents.
  • Develop and implement integrated public relations strategies that advance business objectives, manage media relations, and build relationships with top-tier financial and technology publications.
  • Manage sensitive communications and reputation risks in close collaboration with our legal, people & culture team, and executive teams.
  • Secure speaking opportunities and media appearances for our executive leadership team and managing directors at premier events and podcasts to amplify their expertise and Techstars' mission.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leaders on all communications matters and partner with teams across the organization to identify compelling narrative opportunities.
  • Implement media monitoring programs to track and leverage news and updates related to Techstars and our portfolio companies.
  • Manage Techstars events staff who are responsible for global external events and digital events.
Required Experience:
  • 5+ years of experience in a strategic communications role, with a strong background in copywriting and public relations. Experience in the venture capital or technology space is a significant plus.
Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities, with a strong knack for storytelling and research.
A proven track record of developing and executing communications strategies that successfully manage reputation risks and navigate sensitive issues.
Proven ability to build trust, influence decision-making, and provide advice to executive leaders to support informed, strategic decisions.

Compensation: $120,000 - $130,000 base & 10% bonus
