Job Brief

As the Director of Capital Markets, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the financial positioning of our company. You will be responsible for partnering with our CFO, business, and engineering to understand long-term financial forecasts. You will leverage these relationships to build a clear picture of the company’s financial situation +5 years out. This is an exceptional opportunity to help build the financial function of a high impact startup in the climate tech sector. This role is eligible to sit remotely, with strategic travel as needed.

Key focus areas of the role may include:

Capital Raising & Structuring

• Lead capital raising efforts, including equity, debt, and hybrid instruments, to support corporate strategy and growth initiatives.

• Develop and maintain comprehensive capital structure models and financing strategies aligned with short- and long-term objectives.

• Manage negotiations and execution of financing transactions with investment banks, lenders, and other financial institutions.

• Conduct scenario analysis and evaluate trade-offs between various funding options.

Market Intelligence & Strategy

• Monitor financial markets and macroeconomic trends to anticipate capital market opportunities and risks.

• Provide strategic insights on market developments, interest rates, investor behavior, and competitive activity.

• Advise executive leadership on optimal timing and structures for financing and capital allocation.

Risk & Liquidity Management

• Oversee liquidity and cash flow forecasting to ensure adequate funding for operations and investments.

• Implement hedging strategies to mitigate interest rate, foreign exchange, and other financial risks.

• Ensure compliance with all loan covenants, regulatory disclosures, and reporting requirements.

What you’ll bring

• 5+ years of investment banking.

• Startup experience is a plus.

• Building long-term financial forecasting models.

• Ability to take financial models and build an investment story.

• Bonus if you have successfully supported funding rounds for a startup.
